That's cool! I noticed my broody would often push an egg off to the side, so I tried taking it thinking it must be bad, and she threw a fit! She did cluck to them a lot and still does now that they all hatched (and all in a few hours). When she moves around the pen she is in now, she drags the feeder along with her so the chicks need only to pop their heads out to eat!

I still so love your avatar. I want a baby Hoss. I was thinking it would be fun to name my orpington babies after Gunsmoke characters (Hoss- like you did) but could not think of any girl names from the show.

I thought Hoss was from Bonanza.

Someone in the Brabanter club didn't think much of me naming my cockerel Blondie, but Clint Eastwood was called Blondie in the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Can't get much more masculine than that.

LOL, everyone knows Hoss is the big blue Orp!!!!!!!!!

They never cease to amaze me!

Gotta love those muffs!!! Soooo cute!
So correct me if I'm wrong, but with the color blue, you can have lighter and darker shades, right? So how do you distinguish between the different shades of blues and lavs?

Hey guys!!

Sadie learned what a started bird is, and great fluffy cuteness I see!

Cheryl, I told ya about kiddie leashes last year!
My kids were always going in 2 different directions...DH was previously married & had a 5 year old, a set of 4 year old twins, and a 2 year old...all girls, I cannot believe the stories of all the trouble those 4 girls got into..all running in diferent directions.
He needed one of those multi-dog leashes

I am going to top off my coffee & go over the sub floor plan & get a materials list made and probably get lumber ordered today for it.
The challenge is the 30 foot long main support beam...we cannot get a semi in here.
If a regular delivery truck cannot haul the continuous 30 foot beam, we will have to do sections, which I really do not want to do....

Dinner is a big meatloaf..cooked on the smoker grill....with alder & briquettes.
YUM!!!!!!!!!
droolin.gif

Lean ground beef, eggs, Italian sausage, red bells & onions chopped, cracker (GF) crumbs & sliced shrooms.
The garden is being gently watered..all is well on the farm/

I am also almost done packing buckets of gravel into the cuckoo run...I do a few every so often so I don't wipe out my back.

Also have ::::::::::::::: Nice Blue Ameraucana Cockeral, Nice Black Ameraucana cockeral and 3 Wheaten Ameraucana cockerals that need to go.
Also still have 5 goofy-half fledged wine bottle ducks.....
jumpy.gif

Also have Lemon Blue Cochin (LF) chicks that are now about 1 mo old...awesome gorgeous babies, the ultimate fluffy butt cuteness!!!!

OK, Thanks to all with ear problem advice, too...I have no ear wax trouble at all..just inner tinnitus & champagne going on in there.....argh!!!!!!!
I really do not want to go see an ENT~~cannot afford it right now.

Yep you can have many different shades of blue...and that's exactly why I advertised those eggs the way I did...it's gonna be hard to tell the very light blues from the lavs, except that the lavs are much more "silvery" downed as chicks. Both of the chicks in my pics are blue, the one on the left is not black, though it even looks like it in person...

You should get darker blues from the blue/black eggs, though both of the chicks pictured are blue/lav splits...

I know...I'm no help at all!

thanks, i'll have to look into this.

Please, tell me you're not serious. It's toxic, and carcinogenic, not to mention flammable.

I was thinking the same thing. I can see how it would kill the mites and the oil from the diesel fuel may keep them from coming back and might keep termites away and keep the wood from roting. I did not question him on this.

We used to cut tamarack fence posts in Idaho, and soak them in diesel before we set them, to keep rot out of them.
Deisel gives off fumes forever..and alot of it is sulphers.
A good fungicide, but not sure it would repell any bugs..

I better go get to work.

Hey ByNature..when are you guys moving out???
Thought you would be here by now??
