Wonder if Jim would collect some more of those B RIR eggs for me to hatch. I feel terribly about only ending up with one. And I think it's a roo on top of it.

Cute little guy though. I'll have to go down there on Wed. and take him some cookies as a brib.

You know, now that you mention it....I think an egg on the right side of the picket fence would look great!
My dad and his family had a chicken farm in Winlock-love the area! I even like Napavine and Chehalis. (I love it when out of towners try to say Chehalis) Heck, I love it when they try and say Lebam!

Yeah, pronunciations help me to know who to hang up on! Just kidding! I try to be civil to telemarketers until they don't take no for an answer.
I think we used to play Lebam teams when I was in HS at Napavine. Probably lost to you guys. We lost to just about everyone.

CL- Just think about how all those employers would feel having teens working for them. In my experience, there would only be a small handful willing to work diligently. The rest... well... corp training might be good! Boot camp to whip them into shape so they are ready to really work! Attitude is everything IMHO.

I have had great kids work for me in the past.
You would be surprised how motivated they can be when it all comes down to something that intrigues them, captures their minds & hearts.
We all have (hoefully) experienced that passion before, and hopefully not experienced the dread that can completely over take a person stuck in a dead end boring job that they hate so much it is hard to get out of bed...such as yet another dreary boring day in HS.

Back when I graduated from High school we gave our counselor a Live Goat

Strikers do irritate me bad!!
ANYONE with a job, a good job with benies needs to shut up & be happy about it.
Boeing strikes really irritate me!!
The spoiled brats are making excess of $30+ an hour and striking???????????

If I were Boeing, I would move ALL the plants to North Carolina!!!!!!!!!!!!

And our economy would suck, but it would TEACH the spoiled brats all a lesson, wouldn't it ????

Yes, I totally agree.
Not all our kids can work at Burger King.
LOL...the immigrants have taken most of the "starter" jobs like that.
I would love to see more vocations open though, welders are a plenty.
What about CNA work, or fisheries, something useful!!
These kids are so bored in HS, they need serious input, not dragging boring useless books & lectures on Social Studies or commercial studies..blah blah...
How about vocational Architecture?
Engine workings & repair..
Something that leads to GAINFUL employment EVEN IF the kids decide to go on to college, at least they can immediately be hired on in a doctor's office, for example WHILE they attend college.
Far too many kids dropping out of college cuz they cannot find gainful employment.
They cannot work at Burger King part time & go to school and pay their apartments, car payments & utilities nowdays.

My son with the disabillty loved wood working and had an awesome wood shop teacher in middle school. Brought home lots of great projects including adirondack chairs and a table that is in our living room. He was so excited to get to High School and take wood shop. I'm not going to go into detail about the story because it makes me so angry and I still cry when I think about it but his experience with that teacher was so horrible he has never had an interest in wood working since. That teacher could have continued to nuture his love for wood but instead broke his sweet heart. He just crushed him and blew any self esteem he had. Working with wood was one thing he was good at. That teacher had a kid in his class with a disability and an IEP. He never once helped him. My son never brought home even one finished project. That experience as a High School freshman set the stage for many future problems his remaining High School years.

I agree there should be lots more opportunities. The technical school offered several. Welding was what the kids were interested in. Still, there are lots out there they could offer. Unfortunately, there is no funding. The Government has their priorities screwed up.

I see this side too. My 16 yo DS(with ADHD) has had good teachers and really bad ones. This year he has had mostly bad ones and with all of the emotional stuff he has gone through they just haven't been all that supportive of helpful. I am so tired of seeing teachers that shouldn't be teaching just go on every year and possibly have hand in ruining learning for our children. But I do have to say that those that are good....more power to them for caring to do a good job. I could NEVER do it.
