This baby is pure black, and pure white, slate legs & great beard too..she is gorgeous.
I have to breed her to a white, I think, to try for more mottled..maybe a black?

Not to white! Breed her to black, the babies will all be black and split for mottled. Breed one of those split baby boys back to her, and some of the chicks that hatch from that cross will be mottled, some will still be split. Once you have more mottled chicks, they should breed true if bred back to her. Fun project!!!!
You can also use blue and get blue mottled!!! I love the look of blue mottled cochins, I want some one day!
I have 2 black boys I have saved...incidently, one has quite a bit of white mottling on the ends of his wings.
As I recall, one of the girls I brought you had just a touch of white on her wing tips...I am thinking this is the gene
