So was this mottled Ameraucana one of your fluke chicks? It's beautiful!!!!

Yes, remember when she was hatched I thought she must be a splash?
Of course Jean popped on & told me, no, she is not a splash, a splash being a dilution of black.
This baby is pure black, and pure white, slate legs & great beard too..she is gorgeous.
I have to breed her to a white, I think, to try for more mottled..maybe a black?

Heather, I have a Brinsea20, on a turner, with a humidity pump. I get THE BEST call hatches out of it I have EVER had. Although, calls take special care during their hatching. I have had my best call hatch this year. I swear by it right now.

two thumbs up. I don't know about the ones without a pump, but if you want to do difficult duck eggs, I would highly recommend it! My first hatch was 7 out of 10 (one died a few days later due to something else, not the hatch), and the the second hatch was 6 out of 8. Did I mention I am happy with the incubator??

lol!!

I'll have to put that on my list.

Two batches of awesome, SQ calls and not one hatch.

Most were fully developed and died during the power outage. This next batch--I candled again and it looks like most quit after the power outage. I will give them a few more days before I chuck them, though.

All good looking birds - but I have to say that Hoss is one majestically handsome boy!

he is!! and I must say somewhat intelligent! one day he decided he should be the boss and tried to flog me...I whooped his butt, chased him all over the property kickin him in the butt. then he got stuck under a wheel barrow so I grabbed him and put him on his back and grabbed him by the feathers on his head and held him...till I could breathe again lol. took a while. he thought about it again one other time...he quickly changed his mind when I came right at him. he ran. he now does his job and keeps out of my way. I walk him backwards every now and then to remind him. he doesnt hold a grudge either cause if I call them he comes running as fast as he can to see what I have and share it with the girls.
lol with all that said, one of my 12 weekers decided today that he should bite my legs or feet. he got a pass the first bite, second one he learned how to fly twice as high as he usually does. 3rd time (about 10 minutes ago) got him booted chased grabbed and locked away in a crate, he goes to the feed store tomorrow. attacking my feet and legs will not make me drop the food...

Red- Do you happen to know if Monroe takes chickens other than Cockerels? Like a crowing Marans and an Ameraucana that goes broody evry three weeks or so? Lol! I am going to put them on Craig's list but if don't have any takers I am going to have to get rid of them. They are from Cree Farm and I hate to do it but I just am having a hard time with them.

I will ask when I drop this one off. I dont see why not. unless they dont have a pen set up for them. not even sure if they are taking roosters yet. I will find out tomorrow and let you know

The new kids: Anni-Frid, Bjorn, Benny and Agnetha (not in that order, but who ever heard of AABB?):

They are taking roosters. I dropped off my EE cockerel a few weeks ago.
