Hello all, I am unsure if I posted here or not yet, I havent checked. I am from Deer Park which is just north of Spokane in the north eastern part of the state. I have wyandotte bantams in loads of colors and my family also has lots of other breeds of all things feathered.

Hi Anne. I've not (yet?) gotten into showing, but if my Ameraucanas don't lay green or bluish eggs, I guess now i know where I can get the real thing--Araucanas. I'm assuming you sell but I'll check your website.

Yep, I do sell hatching eggs. I also have lots of nice rumpless/tufted roosters running around (not standard colors). I keep all my hens though -- even if they're no good for breeding, I use them for egg laying and brooding.

My show experience consists of... uh... having one bird in the local fair. Once. I was hoping to do it again this year, but after the move I was forced to pen all my birds together, and my potential show entries are now looking far too scruffy.

I will always be a Washatonian at heart even though my wife convinced me Florida was the place to be. (She forgot about things like...hurricanes, tornadoes etc) I lived for 20 years on Whidbey Is. (Coupeville, Oak Harbor) and 6 years in Walla Walla.

I saw the post on DE and would like to let everyone know of a good place to purchase what is supposed to be the best/puresest. I buy from a SUPER nice guy in AZ who makes a living selling this and other health related items on Ebay. I may not pay the lowest price but I like to help out the "little guy". If interested email me and I'll give you his username and you can check it out for yourself.

Anne, do you sell chicks or eggs only? If the former, would you sell them sexed?

Okay, thanks. I need to stick with hens, so will probably have to go through My Pet Chicken.

Yeah, I am aware that unfortunately, there is that risk. But I guess 90% probablility is better than 50%! So far I've lucked out with my 5 chickens, all of which turned out to be hens. What may I ask do you do with your extra silkie roosters? You don't by chance take them in (for other than table fare) do you? ;0

Extra silkie roos make a traditional herb soup. My mom wants the hens but I said if we used the hens, there would be no more silkies! Sadily though, out of now 11 straight run silkies... I have still only ended up with one girl!!! You definitely have better luck than I do. I have 4 more in the bator and really really really need another girl!!!

Silkie's in the markets cost about 8 bucks for a 6-8 ounce bird!!!

So yes. I eat them.

I'd split an order with you but bellingham is a long drive. :p I think I have decided though that I'll get a "meat and egg" combo and just eat the meat birds. You can try seattle.craigslist.org and make a post there asking if someone in that area wants to split an order.

We live in the beautiful Methow Valley:) We are chicken "virgins" in that we have never had chickens before. Now we have 5 beautiful hens(Leghorn-Luna, RIRed-Ruby, Buffed Orphington-Daisy, Barred Rock-Fluffy and one mysterious breed????-Chiquita). Chiquita is a mystery to me and if I could figure out how to send a picture I would(we are computer free and rely on the kindness of neighbors, the library and my work for computer use). She has a hawk like head...alot of white on the head with just a little black and then is striped black and white body. She is also is the only one that doesn't appear to be developing a comb. We got them from our neighbor who ordered from McMurray's...they are all supposed to be brown egg layers. The are due to lay eggs the end or so of September. Anyway...our dtr says watching chickens is alot better than watching tv which I think is a major coup for any parent. Nice to meet all of you. Halley
