Thanks! Yeah, I plan to take pics of anything that catches my interest. I didn't see anything against it printed on the flyer.

I plan to take my camera too. Then I'll have to figure out how to put the pics on the forum. At least I got my avatar and signature figured out! I can do the pics too (I can do it, I can do it!) Just giving myself a pep talk, lol.

We will be starting at the Rainier Beach area where there are coops for sale, then make our tour South from there. Suzanne, since you live North will you be doing mostly those up your way? Between us, we should be able to cover quite a good portion of them (I think there are 40 in the self-guided tour). We have to be in Orting at 4, so we are limited by that. I can't wait!

Tomorrow is my garage sale day! I am now always on the lookout for things that can be repurposed for the coop, in addition to the little boys clothing and toys I always look for for my grandsons (four of them under age 4).

I would love to Dave, if I wasn't going to the coop tour and you didn't live clear over in Yakima!!! Maybe someday when we go to visit my daughter in the Tri-Cities, we'll stop to see ya!

Does anyone know what kind of bird this is? About 10 minutes ago I heard a distressed shrieking from my backyard. Thinking one of my birds was hurt I rushed down to find my Golden Retriever hovering excitedly over something and when I ran to investigate I found this baby bird. It doesn't appear to be fully feathered. It was lying on it's back crying. I don't believe my dog had anything to do with it being hurt - I'm guessing it fell from a nest or was pushed or taken by another animal. I say this because earlier this afternoon I found a small chickadee lying dead in our yard, still warm. I don't know what's happening. It's been a very, very bad week here bird wise. I haven't even been able to post about our own personal tragedy because I've been too upset.

And now this. I've got the baby in a small dog carrier in the computer room. It's warm in the house. I tried to give it a few drops of sugar water. I don't know what else to do. I don't see any obvious injury to the bird. I'm wondering if I can just keep it overnight and maybe try to let it go tomorrow, but I'm not sure it can even fly yet.
Any ideas, suggestions?

I visited all 9 coops on our tour and took photos of all I visited. I always asked the owners if photos were permitted and they were all very pleasant about it. Since I wasn't sure if it was allowed, I had only brought my camera/phone. I think you'll find folks quite chatty and proud of their coops. It's kind of like BYC only live.

Red Shafted Flicker?

Thanks Dave, I'll have to look that up. This appears to be a baby though, do you think?

Yup .. and I don't like how it is holding it's right wing - but maybe that's just the way it was sitting?

I have no idea what they might want to eat.
