Well, time to rustle up some grub, I am starving.
Had Bolddog come out & pick up her chicks I hatched for her.
She took 3 large cockerals too, to take to the auction this weekend with her (yeah!!)
Anyone have grown cockerals to get rid of, give then to Diane.
OK, out to collect eggs, and make dinner...I am doing a Stumpfarmer pot roast that looks yummy, has been marinading in Stump's Sauce all day~~~~
That Stump's B-B-Q sauces are really good!
A few minutes ago I had a woman call on my cell that wanted a mess of cornish hens and I told her I had none, never did ask where she got that info or my # but she said she was in Chehalis..weird
She wanted to start meaties by using the orp cock she has, over some cornish hens.
Wrong!
It is the other way around I explained, as cornish are very poor layers, and when they do lay, you get very small eggs.
They also grow painfully slow.
What she needs is a Cornish Cock over Rock (or buckeye or even orp) hens.
These hens lay well, year round, and their growth habit makes for a faster growing meat chick while the cornish cock provides the nice meaty girth you want.
In the mean time between hatching meaty chicks, you will have nice eggs to eat/sell.
She understands now.
Still don't know where she heard I had cornish hens for sale or got my #
