mmm -- also possible I could borrow DS's hatchback (since he cannot drive it for the next two months, minimum) ... I know the plastic travel crate will fit in that, but Jake-the-dog needs something bigger than that to sleep in or shelter from the rain

Do you have a picture of this contraption? I want to make a big 5 gallon or 10 gallon one to feed my forever hungry quacks. 17 in all.
Eating me out of house & home. LOL
Like the teenagers that they are.

I have 2 or 3 paintings to crank out ASAP as the Fair is coming!!
I absolutely HAVE to enter to show up a rival...tee heee....
Whopped him last year with all 3 entries first place of category, and one best of show & one was Grand Prize Winner of all entries...tee hee!!!

Outside of that,
8 Cuckoos in lockdown, 10 go into lockdown next week..
And the bummer note is my favorite old ,old, old girl, Cathy, a Cuckoo Marans Hen who lays Jumbo dark brown eggs...is failing.
She is so old, loosing weight, and seemed a bit arthritic for months now.
She has been wormed & on the best feed & vitamins , free range & treats.
I lift her from her royal HIGHNESS roosting place every morning (and she waites for me) as it is hard for her to jump down.
I found her this morning laying down in her coop after I had lowered her down, she just lay there.
She is now in a crate, with canned corn, bread and medicated water...just in case she has a 'bug'
Hope she is OK....

"no-climb" wire cut at an angle (to be sharp!) and zip-tie to the top & all wooden posts to deter racoons or other climbers.
