So an update...one sister is with her now...the other (who is in Eugene) is talking to me on FB right now....

The tumor is in the back of her head...she does not know the size, type or anything other than there is one there.

Cousin. I only have one nephew, but I've got cousins the way most people have casual aquaintances.

He loves the cockerel, and immediately started talking about a more orderly breeding program, which was what I'd hoped would happen.

Thank you guys....I think DH's truck is over at the in-laws' house now....I'm trying to gather myself and call over there and ask that he come home without breaking down on the phone or freaking them out--thinking I'm in labor or something....

Heather:
Try not to be too upset, it's hard on the baby. Why your mom would post on FB before telling her family is quite odd to me. When I found out I had a brain tumor, we gathered the kids and my mom together that night and told them all together before we told anyone else. But your mom may not be thinking clearly...
Also don't assume the worst. Two radiologists said my tumor was the most aggressive form of brain cancer, and they were both wrong. It was benign (Praise the Lord!) and completely removed almost three years ago. I have no risidual effects, but one little finger that is numb, and I can sure live with that! I will be praying your mom is as fortunate. And you try to stay calm (easier said than done, I know). Let us know what you find out. You are welcome to vent your feelings here.

I'm so glad your tumor was one of the less frightening kind; even the really bad ones are more treatable than they were just a few years ago, though. A dear friend of mine was diagnosed with dendritic glioblastoma about two years ago; she's got no detectable residual tumor after a new gene-based postsurgical therapy. It's terrifying when someone is diagnosed with any tumor, but what's worse, really, is having a tumor that goes undiagnosed even one day longer than it should be.

My sister is there with her now...the doctor is supposed to call her back tomorrow....

She said that she went in today for the CT scan and when she got there, the receptionist gave her a clip board and a piece of paper to fill out. She said she saw the receptionist put a piece of paper behind the paper my mom was to fill out.

After my mom filled out the paper, she flipped it up to see if there was more to be filled out and saw a sheet with the reason for the CT and it said "brain tumor."

She said as she stared at that and read it over & over, the guy came out, called her name and she went back in for the scan.

Afterwards, she was told they found a "tumor" in the back of her head.

She said she was trying to absorb that and the guy kind of rushed her out of the room and said someone would be calling her.

She got no other information about size, treat-ability, type, treatments, etc.

The hospital is open tomorrow and my mom's doctor is there...so she'll be contacting them tomorrow....

I sent a message to my boss and told I think I'm going on my leave a few weeks early...I need to (attempt) to relax...

You will probably just pace & pace.
Sometimes (and always for me) I have found it best to work, to find some meaningful task to occupy my worried brain.....maybe will work for you ?

I know you are a worker, kept busy, and not used to 'sitting & waiting'..............you seem to be busy busy 24/7..........

And thanks to all who sent good wishes for my sick (cocci) chicks. So far, they are holding their own. Praying I got them medicated early enough!
