A friend of mine got a free coop from CL. Turned out it needed a lot of work. Now he points to it and says "Most expensive free thing I've ever gotten".

I had the same problem with nuts coming off, and getting lost. The hardware stores didn't have anything small enough. I finally stuck the rod into a cork. I was going to glue the nuts in place, but waited too long.

Where you are right now isn't so bad either, though I left the Bay Area for Washington nearly 20 years ago because it was getting too crowded and too expensive for me. I was back there last week. The air no longer looks brown (at least not that week), but the crowds are still there. Sometimes I miss the sunshine and the beautiful coastline, but I don't regret my move here at all.

Perfecto and if by chance they happen to be the taller ones that is even more better!

Now I just have to figure how to get them here.

I could take them part way; Tacoma or Lacey. Maybe someone could take them further south.

Actually, they're 6/32. I got lock washers in hopes that I'll lose fewer over time. Also because it was $1.98 for six lock washers vs the same price for a dozen machine washers, and I assume that I'll end up paying $1.98 for one washer no matter which way I went, given the way small parts vanish from what starts out as my neatly sorted fasteners drawer.

There's one other place in Lacey I could buy a single washer, but it's closed Sunday. There's a place downtown- Olympia Supply, or what Dad called "Bean Bros." where I could buy one nut, but the gas would cost more than I spent on the washers.

Life is so complicated. But I needed a short piece of 6" lumber, and got one off the bent lumber cart for $1.04, preprimed exterior trim, which was what I needed, so Home Depot was OK.

It is a nice place, but I hate looking at hills or parks and just seeing dead grass. I like the trees and all the green and all the rain:) plus Seattle's just about the coolest city on earth and I want to go to school at UW!

Lots of BYCers from WA!

Don't you kind of live in the middle of nowhere.

she does and I am her closest BYC neighbor...and I'm probably 20+ minutes from her.

Congratulations Chickielady and Rustler for getting July awards.

You both deserve them
