Would like that. I just kind of wing it put what ever fruit on the bottom then a mix of chopped nutz, oats, a little margarine/butter, a little cinn. maybe a little splenda brown and of course a little of my own honey. spread that over the top and bake.

Yum Yum!

Looks like I will have tons of blackberries this year, but no razz. they all croaked.

Blueberries appear to be doing well if the bear stays away this summer - very, very late to ripen!

DD has picked 2 small buckets of huckleberries in the yard and quite a few salmon berries. They all get fed to the chickens who fight over them.

I just added all my chicken expenses (excluding the coop or feeders/waterers - just consumeables) for the year, and all my egg sales. I'm $680 on the WRONG side of $ZERO! If I Include the value of the eggs we have eaten or gifted, I'm still $540 in the hole.

$252 of that was the price I paid for all my chickens (currently 38 of which only 10 are currently laying)

About another $100 is for Eprinex and DE which I bought in huge enough quantities to last for years if DS did not spill the bottle of Eprinex

My goal is to sell enough eggs priced fairly enough to pay for this hobby, and maybe, over the course of 10 years or so, pay for the coops too.

I'd say it needs at least 10 hours of full sun. My bananas get, at least for this time of year, full sun from 6 AM til sunset. Now, one of my varieties doesn't like sun as much, but the sheeting that makes up the greenhouse sort of protects it, as it dims the light by just a tiny smidge and prevents UV damage. Plus it isn't always sunny here

If their banana has grown any little suckers from the base at all, I'd say it is perfectly happy. If not - Then something is slowing it. By the time they reach within 3 feet of their destined height, they should set a bunch of suckers/babies/pups which will begin rapidly growing from the base of the "mother" plant.

Things here are also way behind. I have been told about 62 days behind. I have an apple tree that normally is full on by Aug and by mid month the apples are done. This year the apples are still very small and no where near ripe.

You should sometime ask them what variety/species the banana is, ask them if they have any experience with separating the pups/suckers, as I'd love one or two if it is a variety I like.

The height theirs reaches sounds within my range of taste, however Williams (Dole), Grand Nain (Chiquita), and Raja Puri are also in that range, and I could care less for having a commercial variety of banana.

It would be funny if theirs too were also the Blue Java like some of mine. Tell me, does their banana have a typical green foliage, green foliage with red blotches, or is it more of a dusty blueish green color?

You should get some pics next time, and ask them if they have experience with pup/sucker separation.

If I can eventually get the chickens to pay for their daily expenses, I will be very happy. I don't expect them to ever cover their coop expenses, but they're paying for those in entertainment value.

They're fun to watch, and relaxing.

They are cheaper to own than dogs (2 big dogs eat $25+ in food per week).

...and waaaaay cheaper than a cat with health issues
