I don't understand people being so against chickens and ducks! There are people who are overrun with cats or dogs, but God forbid that there be chickens in a person's yard. As far as roosters go, pffft, a barking dog makes a whole lot more noise than your average rooster. Why do cities limit people to just a few chickens (like 4 or 5) when there is no limit on dogs or cats? Especially if all they have is hens...? It's crazy! I'm so lucky I live out in the country where nobody can tell me how many or what kinds of animals I can have.

They are not new to the block, but were on a teacher exchange in Australia when I started getting the ducks and geese. The Australian teacher and his family that lived there while the neighbors were gone loved our flock.

Hubby is an angry man right now over the entire thing is getting an attorney to see where we stand. Hubby knows how much the flock means to me... the flock changed my life from one of depression and no motivation to a life of joy and meaning. He doesn't want anything interfering with that. I love my man.

Donna:

Is this in a housing devision where your close to each others home? If so they have been watching you collect all your cuties. Ducks make more noise than a chicken do. Is there a place you could put some of the ducks till things smooth over?

I don't know him, but I kinda like HIM a lot too!

I am so sorry. Hopefully this will just smooth over soon. I know how stressful this kind of thing is. You hang in there and take your vitamins, and stay healthy.

My hubby loves me too......he did all the fencing, making coops, moving coops and yesterday said we need to get straw at Del's. My poor chickens run was mainly mud. I think he likes my rabbits better though.

The fronts are close together, but our particular yard runs further back, so that the back part of our property doesn't touch either of my immediate neighbors.

If they want to fight this, then so be it. I've been trying to find property to expand as well as to alleviate the the pressures of waterfowl on our own land. If they want to be buttheads about it, then I'll just keep the geese.

I just got home from work and as soon as I started driving up our street I got a pit in my stomach that's still there. I AM SO MAD.

You are aware that in order to get INTO the chicken party, you must show SIX WHITE eggs at the door. and you MUST bring the CHICKEN that layed them for verification.

We thought we had looked into it thoroughly before buying any waterfowl. It appears as if the laws changed at the end of last year... I'll know more after speaking with the attorney, it's all very confusing.

Ron, I had the best time online talking with your daughter this evening. Turns out we have a lot of the same tastes in Movies and TV. both born too late. Don't let her miss the party. I am really looking forward to meeting her.

Oh, and you too.

Don't worry everybody. From what I hear, they sell those odd colored eggs (white) in the stores. The report I heard said that they are all the same inside, but I am skeptical.

Maybe we can get Ron to eat some first before we try them.
