Here's the link I was thinking of (re: chicken sitting):

BNF - Yeah, I'm thinking about something like that. I also have some metal shelving pieces (from an IKEA setup) which aren't being used, so I could maybe put that over the top of something. I'm tempted to use one of the many cardboard boxes we have, but I don't think I want to risk the fire hazard (what with kids and curious dog/cat).

ever hunted Morells? (sp)....went with some friends a few years ago....OMGosh....yum. Places where there have been forest fires is the best.

We don't have the forests for them. (wrong type of trees I mean) - We'd have to travel far to get some, and I prefer going within either a walking or short drive's distance. We have a LOT of wilderness out here, so finding something isn't too far, but sadly, no Morels.

We have Morels but the season is way over (2-3 months ago)

Glad all is better for now. Believe me I know full well about the full stomach & c-section. Not good. I was 33wks & had just finished a big meal of chili hotdogs. Went to the bathroom & my water broke. Crontractions started fast. Rush to the hosp, had to wait for a room. The day before I was 2cm but laying in the bed with contractions coming fast & hard the dr trying to tell me they were going to stop the contractions but seeing my face he said we better check you. I was 5cms, almost 6cm. He got dressed & they rushed me in. As soon as they sat me up to do the spinal I wanted to push. Told me not to & got it all done. After Liz was out though I didn't feel good. In recovery room I got sick, doesn't help that the nurse was moving my empty belly all over to help things shrink up. Atleast I had a little medical training background so I was able to help them clean by knowing how to roll & knowing how they got the new sheets under me etc. Just so weird when the lower half doesn't move when you want it to.

Wish I could go visit Coeur d'Alene: I don't miss having to go to Missoula twice a year, but I wish I could go take a leisurely trip east and go visit people and stop and sight-see a little. (Maybe not in August, though).

Glad the baby is fine! Those anti-contraction drugs sure are fun! Initially I was on indocin by IV, and starting at 28 weeks I went into real labor a few times, so then I got injections of terbutaline or something like that. It stopped the contractions, but they failed to first mention to me that it makes your heart race, so I had a panic attack thinking I was about to have a heart attack! I'm a but surprised they stopped your labor at just about 38 weeks. 38-42 weeks is considered full term. Olivia was born by C-section at 35 weeks. She was tiny, and had no sucking reflex then, but she was breathing on her own. I would have preferred it had she come out a week or 3 later. One nice thing about being born early, their lungs are not developed enought to be screamers. She was nearly 2 months old before she could cry loudly.

If you make it till Tuesday, your baby will be born on my birthday

We need some more good things associated with that day, right now, it starts with the Greco-Persian battle of Artemesium in 430 BC, the atomic bomb in Nagasaki, Nixon's resignation, and Jerry Garcia's Death (Greatful Dead). About the only good thing is Betty Boop's public debut in 1930.

Yeah I have no idea why they stopped the contractions--other than the doctor looked "busy and bothered" to be there....LOL I'll have to see tomorrow if I've progressed any more.

Yeah....the contractions were pretty horrible...they were 4-6 minutes apart, 40-60 seconds long and "coupling" which meant there was no break in-between.

The stuff they have me on is a heart medication that actually LOWERS your blood pressure...mine was pretty high when I went in (I was in a lot of pain & anxious) but after I settled in it was 110/64. Before I left the hospital, it was 100/60. I was told that I'd be dizzy and to get up slowly to avoid tipping over. I tend to spring out of bed because once I get my momentum--I don't want to stop it!

Just don't let the dr charge you an after hours fee. I had my emergancy/fast c-section at 10pm & they tried to charge us an after hrs fee. Faught that one & won. We don't have a choice on when our babies say here we come. Mine was coming fast bottom 1st so she had to come out with c-section.

Hope the ladies are doing well during their transition. I have two ladies that have yet to figure out they can hop up to the higher roost now.

So they crowd on the smaller one. The last (my EE) has the top rung all to herself!
