Ah, the joys of sibling rivalry.

But I'll bet Spot starts it... Brothers are evil like that.

Now us big sisters, well.... We're just plain angelic.

Poor Jack.

Though he'll probably be better off without Chips using him for a chew toy.

Well as far as I can tell my angelic and dearest Dot starts a lot of things around here. She is quite the brat when she wants to be. But I have seen Spot start things too. He is still awful small, and not quite as smart as Dot.

That is because Spot wants to come home with me!!! I'm not quite as smart as Dot either!!! I love that little boy!!! I might have to come visit you for the day JB! I seem to have an incubator with your name on it!!! Plus I need my Spot fix!!!

I just did something like that. Not sure you'd call it leisurely. I went from Yakima, WA to Plymouth WI and back in 6 days. I saw Yellowstone, Black Hills of SD, The Badlands in SD, a few other places that have no significance to anyone else but me -- oh.. and I stopped at the Battle of the Little Bighorn (Custer's last stand).

It was -- therapeutic.

Dave

I remember visiting the Badlands, the Black Hills, and Yellowstone when we used to drive cross country when I was a little girl.

Hey!!! I said 9:30ish!!!! In woman language that means 11!!!!! DUH!!!!

I'm falling off of the night crew tonight!

I had to be up at 6am so I could chase someone's (CR) dumb chicken around my yard!

I'm a bit tired! Cardio workout that early isn't good for anyone!!

My personal experience. i have top to keep out hawks and owls....but mostly to keep out wild song birds as they carry diseases, mites and lice. I have been hit a few times with Cocci. Lost quite a few birds last year too. My main run is now tweety bird proof. The other two runs are 95-97% wild bird free I don't think CL puts tops on hers....but she does have protection at the top to keep out racoons and other vermin.

I do have netting on top of all my coop runs.
(But my birds are let out at least evey other day to free range...)
I also have 2x4" fencing, 6 feet tall, with the rip wires on top, and no-dig at least 12" on the bottoms...BUTT, the 2x4 wire allows weasels and rats and tweeties in.
I have never had any issues with Cocci, here or in OR or in CA.
Lice & mites come & go throughout my lifetime.
best to just keep on top of it with bird dust baths, poultry dust and Permectrin II............and every 6 mo a good worming.
I have ordered Eprinex for this fall's worming..excited about that !
This worms and kills off all parasites so birds can go into winter with no parasite load.
Good night all~~

Where do you order your Eprinex from?

Just an update....I was diagnosed with HELLP and airlifted to Spokane this morning. After receiving platelets, I am doing better but not expected to come home until at least saturday. My doctor said I more than likely would not have survived a vaginal birth. Normal platelet levels are in the hundreds of thousands, mine were at 15,000 when I got shipped out.

Geez. I am officially fascinated and creeped out at the same time.

I don't know how few of you know, but I'm an amateur entomologist, and moths are my thing, so naturally on a summer night like tonight, I'm out in the chicken's pasture with a big white sheet, a camera, and a light - Photographing myself a digital collection.

Well, while out there, I started to hear some rustling in the neighbor's forest, probably about 100 feet away from me, maybe less. There was definitely an animal out there, scaling the trees. After a while, the scaling turned into two animals running around the branches. After that - It was an all-out battle. I stood there, just listening. There were hisses, screams, gurgles, and other weird panting noises. It was like a cat-fight from some weird SciFi movie about mutant cat-ape creatures. After a good battle in the trees, the loser crashed to the ground with a good thud, and I was outta there. . . .

Raccoons are scary at night.

Especially when you've got HUGE raccoons around.

I'm so sorry Heather, I hope they moved Audrey with you. I had to look HELLP up on wikipedia, I had never heard of it before. When I read up on it, you were complaining about many of those symptoms in the last week, although all are fairly common in late pregnancy, they must have been much worse for you. I hope you make a speedy recovery so you can go home and spend time with your little one. I'm sending all my good thoughts your way.

Cougars make some pretty scary sounds too. In the late '80s I worked for the Forest Service calling spotted owls way up in the Sierras. We were tracking one way late one night and heard some terrible noises and a scream real close by that sent us running for the truck!

I hope it was raccons you heard, but the other would not surprise me.

On a lighter note, I squished a moth up on my wall behind the laptop earlier this evening. I had a heat-lamp on over my fingers so I could type without my arthritis acting up, and the darn thing kept bonking into my head when it was trying to get to the light. Now I have to get the smear off my wall.

CL: I made 1 batch of apricot jam tonight (everyone ate the rest of the apricots) and 3 batches of peach jam. I already have an order in for more apricots from a neighbor. Love apricot jam. Tonight's jam is freezer jam....becaue I was in a hurry. Next jam is in a jar. I love having the jars to look at.

Was thinking about you today watching the news they went on about the fire in Okanogan...can you see it?
Hope you are OK...this season is going to be a dozzie what with the 5 foot grass we got...all that rain grew some great tinder..............good night all.

There is a 400 acre fire (size I last heard) up above Tonasket. No I can't see it...We are fine. They are looking into the fire as suspicious. Also there is a smaller fire up in the Colville area. Seriously, I don't think anything could get to close to me anyway, I am surrounded with irrigated orchards and irrigated pastures. It is RFF that is up in a bit drier country. She is more out in the sticks then I am. But there is no fire in her area at all. Well, it was just on the news...400+ acres. Thanks for worrying about me.
