Heather:
OMGoodness, how scary for all of you! I am so glad you are on the mend and that you have Audrey with you. And glad you have fil at home caring for your animals, so you don't have to worry about them. You will be in my prayers for complete and fast recovery, so you and Audrey can get home very soon. God Bless

Cougars make some pretty scary sounds too. In the late '80s I worked for the Forest Service calling spotted owls way up in the Sierras. We were tracking one way late one night and heard some terrible noises and a scream real close by that sent us running for the truck!

I hope it was raccons you heard, but the other would not surprise me.

On a lighter note, I squished a moth up on my wall behind the laptop earlier this evening. I had a heat-lamp on over my fingers so I could type without my arthritis acting up, and the darn thing kept bonking into my head when it was trying to get to the light. Now I have to get the smear off my wall.

Cougars are scarier when you don't hear them; long ago I had a boyfriend whose idea of a real good time was to drive up to the end of abandoned logging roads in the Olympics and park. We went to Forks and turned right, basically, following the Bogachiel up almost to its source, to a new clearcut that had one edge with the National Park (it's WEIRD looking into a rain forest on a cut section, by the way). We slept that night, as was our wont, in a doorless pickup canopy. When we got up in the morning there were four perfect cougar pugs in the dust on the roof.

Oh, gosh! Keep well, and may we all be grateful for modern medicine.

Getting out and seeing new stuff is healing, no doubt, but that much time in the car is wearing.

Very true statement Stump. And my 4 herniated disks in my lower back are still reminding me that things that are good for the soul are not always good for the body

The older I get the more there's a conflict between what's good for my spirit and soul and mind and what's good for my body: I doubt I'll ever be able to hit SAM, the Frye, and the Museum of Asian Art in a day again, nor walk from Lake Ozette to Cape Alava and back.

It's good to know I've done it in the past, though.

Heather, rest and get well fast! I am glad you are getting the care you need. Let them take care of you and you take care of that precious little girl.

Funniest thing I have seen lately.

A rooster breeds by pinning down the hen, and then going at it, yes?

A Creole Old English Game banty roo standing on an almost 10 week old CornishX pullet. When she noticed he was there, she took two or three steps and he fell off.

I really should have taken a picture of him standing there looking confused.

I'm so sorry Heather, I hope they moved Audrey with you. I had to look HELLP up on wikipedia, I had never heard of it before. When I read up on it, you were complaining about many of those symptoms in the last week, although all are fairly common in late pregnancy, they must have been much worse for you. I hope you make a speedy recovery so you can go home and spend time with your little one. I'm sending all my good thoughts your way.

A few German chickens for ya. They were hanging out at a cafe. Beautiful roo - the pics don't do him justice.

I thought it was funny how these guys swam around with a foot sticking in the air.

And these were interesting...related to chickens, I guess. I forget the name.
