I've never seen your house messy, and I've surprised you more than once.

You are very gracious. I know that when you got here my house was very smelly. But at least you got me to clean the cage in the living room. I think we are gone to put the pullet down tomorrow. I will look into sending the carcass to WSU for a necropsy. I am rather frustrated at loosing some of the pullets at 5 to 6 months.

It wasn't really that bad.

Okay, that was a lie.

But it went away quickly.
Poor chicken/penguin.

Grr... Just heard some scuffling around the coops. The house is still warm so I have the sliding door off my bedroom deck open and the coops are just below my deck. As soon as I heard the noise my golden retriever and Pomeranian were out in the yard chasing something up a tree in the corner of the yard. They had been fussing at that corner a couple of hours ago. I'm guessing raccoon. So I'm leaving the dog door open in case the boys need to head back out there in a hurry, but I'm afraid I'm going to sleeping with an ear out for trouble now. I hope I hear if there's trouble anyway!

So my dear sweet and charming friend eenie didn't get bitten by the nasty little evil puppies this visit, but that doesn't mean that she didn't suffer a bit.

There are a total of 4 dogs on her lap. Poor Jacky is hidden behind all the other dogs on eenie's lap.

A few hours ago, the kids were begging me to come outside and sleep on the lawn with them and watch the Perseids. I made everyone hot chocolate and joined them for a few hours. Dang that moon is bright! Managed to see a dozen or two, listened to the coyotes closeby and an elk bugling in the distance. I'm getting too old to sleep on the ground - so I just set up a tent for the kids, and I'm headed to bed. Goodnight all - looks like an active night crew - I'll have some catching up to do!

Cowgirlgrace I sent you phone text did you get it?

If anyone needs contact with me. Chickielady, Cowgirlgrace, T Hi, jbear, 4312 and Cloverleaf Farm ( and probably others I am not smart enough to remember) have my cell number . Just PM them and they have my permission to give it to those they feel ok with.
Thanks

after reading that rooster essay, my roo's morning crow DOES sound like "where ARE youuuu ? "

granddaughter's comment " those don't look like any chickens I've ever seen"

she's used to the wild chickens on Kauai .... and she was fascinated by the different color eggs

the gals did themselves proud yesterday -- SIX eggs from six pullets !!! (and one of those looks like a double yolker)

turquoise, blue, green, olive, greige, and pink !

thanks for the !!!! I breed show and train dogs, dogs will do just like kids and if they can get away with it, knowing full well its against the rules they will. you can teach your dog to stay off the furniture and he will...as long as you are there to reinforce the rules should he forget. the upside down carpet runners do not hurt the dog, the grippers are small, its not like they cut them to shreds. they are uncomfortable to step on. they are a tool in training your dog like everything else. its a reminder and a deterrent to break the pattern of sneaking on to the furniture in the middle of the night. I just got from Cheryl's post that she has a lot on her plate, it was just a suggestion to make things a little easier than moving furniture around while chasing kids and taking care of all those critters. but never mind, I will leave it to the resident professional to make the suggestions from now on....

Easy there I didn't say nor intend to imply that 1) there was anything wrong with your suggestions 2) intend it to be taken that I am claiming to be "the resident professional". Sorry if I stepped on any sore toes.

Was I really that far out of line here? I thought I was just doing very similar to RedReiner. That would be offering my suggestions. I have been watching and am aware that Red Reiner has not been on here since this exchange. I felt that gave a clarification and apology. But aparently it wasn't good enough. Maybe some one can get her to come back now.
Sincerely Rob.
