I attempted to move mine a few times, but it did not work, she'd raise a huge stink and stop sitting! My broody was an EE and I let her hatch 4 BCM eggs from CGG. I could move her from nest box to nest box within the same coop, but not to another coop, not even one in the same building! I did end up putting her in a top corner nest box that was hardly used by my layers, but I have a BCM hen that insists on sitting on top of the EE to lay her egg! (sometimes the EE would leave the nest and let the BCM keep them warm for a bit). When I moved the broody to the higher nest box, the BCM continued to sit on the broody to lay her egg! I painted little darbs of blue paint on the fertile eggs so hers would not get mixed up in them.
Once the eggs hatched, I moved mom and chicks to a cage in the neighboring juvenile pen. She was fine with that for a few days, but by a week, I had her and the chicks out with the general population in the juvenile pen. Some weren't quite juveniles at nearly 6 months, and this momma does not let any chicken near her chicks, even our roosters steer clear! Momma is top of the pecking order and all her chicks are #2, and EVERYONE knows and respects it.
Good Luck!
