I attempted to move mine a few times, but it did not work, she'd raise a huge stink and stop sitting! My broody was an EE and I let her hatch 4 BCM eggs from CGG. I could move her from nest box to nest box within the same coop, but not to another coop, not even one in the same building! I did end up putting her in a top corner nest box that was hardly used by my layers, but I have a BCM hen that insists on sitting on top of the EE to lay her egg! (sometimes the EE would leave the nest and let the BCM keep them warm for a bit). When I moved the broody to the higher nest box, the BCM continued to sit on the broody to lay her egg! I painted little darbs of blue paint on the fertile eggs so hers would not get mixed up in them.

Once the eggs hatched, I moved mom and chicks to a cage in the neighboring juvenile pen. She was fine with that for a few days, but by a week, I had her and the chicks out with the general population in the juvenile pen. Some weren't quite juveniles at nearly 6 months, and this momma does not let any chicken near her chicks, even our roosters steer clear! Momma is top of the pecking order and all her chicks are #2, and EVERYONE knows and respects it.

Good Luck!

O Heather, what a beautiful sweetie, her little arms seem to be saying enough room to streach ALL I want to, and such curls in that long hair. Enjoy each precious moment they go by very fast.

I got my first tomato - a stupice! It is in my greenhouse, my outside plants do not look happy.

When Don was about 8 his family moved from Jersey to Minnesota, A couple years later they bought 85 acres near Brainerd (Crosby/Ironton), never having farmed nor built a house before. Dad burned out as an engineer so he quit his job and decided to farm! Don and his parents and 2 little sisters were building the house and trying to plant and run the farm at the same time. They never hired anyone to help. Come winter, they had the basement poured and dug, and some water piped in (but no toilet!). They covered the basement with sheets of plywood and plastic tarps, put in a wood stove, and lived in the basement for the winter! Can you imagine in northern Minnesota in that cold???? Crazy! Don's sisters said they were so embarassed when the bus would come pick them up. They would all shower at the Jr. High. I found out that indoor toilets were a rarity out there. I have another friend here in North Bend who coincidentally lived near the same itty bitty, teeny tiny town that Don grew up near. They had a pit toilet in the yard, and every year they had to make sure the pit was dug deep enough before the ground freezes! Her parents still live there and finally put in a bathroom about 5 years ago. I guess now that they are in their mid-70's, they decided to splurge on some indoor plumbing.

What a beautiful baby! You both look healthy and happy.

My kids had a lot of hair too, much to the dismay of my brother and sister who had babies that stayed bald for 2 years. Alex had dark curly hair that turned blonde and straight in a few months - and is now starting to curl again since he hit puberty. Everyone told me they would lose their hair, but they did not. Well, Olivia lost a lot of hair, but not the hair on her head. She was born early and was still covered in hair, especially her back. She was so hairy that I did not like anyone to see her because she looked like a little blonde monkey! Thankfully, it all fell out and has not returned.

Audrey is gorgeous!
