Aww... I just got a really nice email from the guy who I gave my rooster to. I think I had posted yesterday that I feared Cocky wouldn't be used for breeding after all but of course, that's just the way things are. So here's the email I received today:
"I would like to thanks for the rooster. Since he (6lb 10oz) is little larger than my hens, there is no fighting among them."
That makes me feel much better. Cocky was always so good with all the girls, the chicks he was hatched with and the older hens so it's nice to hear he's getting along well with his new harem, I mean flock.
Happy endings all around. And I promise next spring when I hatch more chicks I won't get quite as attached to my cockerels...
