I'd rather go through an earthquake, though, than a tornado ... survived one of those in Oklahoma and it was NOT fun, though since we were the only brick house on the block, we had only water damage from the torrential rain, which at one point must have been more than three feet deep, as it was seeping under our front and back doors ...

I would rather be in a earthquake than a tornado also.

Oh, me too: Earthquakes are at least unaccompanied by anticipation.

The kind of big earthquake swarm that still happening in Japan not so much.

I tried candling last night and as before with blue/green eggs I couldn't see a thing. I saw Miss Fluffy butt sneaking back in today but didn't see her come out so didn't get to check on the eggs. Getting excited - the chicks should be here in only six days!

maybe all you can do then, is the "sniff" test --- though it appeared the explosive egg wasn't smelling bad enough to notice

I was thinking those eggs were pastel enough to show through (the flashlight Dana has, is powerful enough) but I guess not

do we have an update on the get-together? this Wednesday maybe?

if it's the week after that, I probably better take eggs up to Helaine in Olalla directly; who knows how long her cochin will STAY broody

won't be on much of the day, DS will be here on "furlough" --- depends on how much time he spends talking with me, how much time working in the yard or on the roof

They'll be about 2.5 weeks old when the fair is over- might be a bit old to graft them on another hen but maybe not. Depends on the hen.
