It seems to me he shaved his beard a couple of years ago when he was looking for work. He looked good without it.

Six years ago, in fact: he does look wonderful clean-shaven, and I'm hoping his young lady is persuasive in that direction.

Those sound wonderful - I know there are some shows coming up in the near future some folks are planning to attend. Various other meetings of sorts and I thought the Vino Aquino meeting went well, so I think we should consider another one of those maybe? I'd like to see more of our locals attend - I know it's hit or miss with our schedules, but it's always fun to visit with friends!

I wish Stevenson wasn't such along haul, I'd love to go but I don't have the time to be away, especially since days grow short so my co-residents can't feed chickens while I'm gone, and I dread the hip pain that long a drive would bring. Is there a show in Chehalis coming up too?

Julia, stupid, stupid hips

I don't think I'll be going anywhere past Sequim for quite some time, sadly, so the best I could say is if you come out to Sequim we can meet up.
wink.png

But who knows, perhaps in a couple months I'll have an unexpected travel somewhere else. . .

So far, I've got 4 clean faced chicks and 4 tufted chicks (great odds!) I may end up selling a tufted one, who knows, but I know at least 2 of the clean faced ones will go. Most of the chicks are pure duckwing; one is blue with split duckwing, so it will just look like a rusty blue, and 2 others are Quail. (duckwing with columbian)

Oh, and I've got a chick who's apparently 1/4 Polish, 1/4 Ameraucana, 1/4 Araucana. Was a complete accident and meant to be a pure Araucana, but, it's bearded/muffed, rumpless, has a tiny crest, and duckwing in color. Will grow up to, if female, lay some VERY rich blue eggs.

At the risk of creating a mad rush, if I found myself on the road for a half way meetup to Forks to maybe pick up a pretty Araucana pullet, maybe I could pick up a few of them if there were enough to be had and get them as far as Tacoma so on the off chance that there was someone in the area who was on the list for one then perhaps I could meet them somewhere and deliver it. All hypothetically speaking of course, if conditions were just right in a perfect world and there was a harmonic convergence and the universe was looking at all WA BYCer's in a friendly way. Just dreaming out loud on the chance that it could come true.

okay, this weekend is "broody watch time" -- Dawn's broody is sitting on eight of my girls' eggs, if I'm remembering the count right, and they are due on the 17th -- that's tomorrow ...

so I'm going to be checking in to the list fairly often, in between trying to set up my lineups for Fantasy Football (gotta read ALL the commentators and analysts, then figure out who has the straight skinny ... )

will be interesting to see if that batch has blue or silver chicks too --- and whether they are muffed-and-bearded, or mostly clean faced like the ones Dana's broody is raising for us

after three days with only four eggs each day in the nest boxes, suddenly today I am finding EIGHT eggs ...
ep.gif

which must mean that either I missed seeing/gathering some of them; or they were totally hidden under the nest material, though I do rake through it all with my fingertips --- or that three of the girls laid eggs both morning and evening today --- there was no pink egg from Becky; only the blues and greens and olives from the other five

now I had to dig Phoebe (or was it Deirdre? sometimes hard to tell those two apart) out from under a big clump of snowberry bushes day before yesterday, so she MIGHT have laid an egg under there, she was in there quite a while and I had to search until I heard her sounding off, then had to beat the bushes to flush her out

could be the change in the weather, has been considerably cooler the last couple of days

threw zucchini end pieces in for them this afternoon, along with a couple of the small wormy fallen apples from my neighbor's trees ... they certainly enjoyed those

Stopped by the NHS plant sale at North Seattle Community College this afternoon, where I saw Rainwolf, her mother, DIY, and assorted people from my days working at the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden. Found a number of things I couldn't live without, and brought a few of them home.
