I didn't get home until after dark so Miss Juno was already pretty quiet, but I heard chirping! At least one think at least one is out of the egg, or chirping very loudly in the egg. I didn't want to disturb anyone; tonight is going to be important I think

So exciting - I'm going to be out bright & early. I'd love to see both blue & silver!

. Yay! Can't wait until morning to hear if there's any peepers! I hope we get pics soon. Can't believe how fast ours are growing. The little silver is still pretty silver but for the dark barring on her wings. And its interesting to me how the chick that started out dark gray is actually lightening up in color to either a very light gray or blue, also with dark barred wings. All 5 are different, but all are perfectly adorable. I'm so excited for you Dawn!

It's the best part of the swamp cause it's where CR and Broodytood live. About 1/2 way tween Portland and Seattle.

Hey... Speaking of, just where has broodytood been lately?

Very busy getting school things lined up for her little people.

Things are happening! Juno turned around completely overnight, and I saw an egg peeking out behind her so I reached in to get it and this little fuzzy thing was right there! Juno was giving me the stink eye the whole time as I took this picture, but both the loose egg and chick were tucked back in quickly.

I didn't hear a whole lot of cheeping, and it's really windy right now so I've just left the upper part of the coop closed off for the morning and will check on her again around Noon. I am using up all of my patience today!!! It will be worth it!

She looks wet - but she was dry and TINY! I am pretty sure the last chicks she hatched were larger, but so were the eggs

I am also excited!

BTW - my son has named her Camo based on the picture

you have some of Phoebe's eggs in your mix (pointed end pale green ones) -- and she has a mostly-black head ... while this chick may not have inherited the Columbian genes that many EEs carry, so could come out all or mostly black !

might be interesting to see if you can scrounge the eggshell out, I had most of the eggs marked in pencil, as to whose they were as well as the day they were laid

your olive-drab eggs are from Becky, the pastel greenish ones from Phoebe (pointed), Anitra (medium), and Christina (large)

we already know one of Christina's was a real stinker

Deirdre lays the pale turquoise blue ones, Ginger lays pink (and hers are usually so small I'm not sure a chick would hatch)

Love it! I didn't even know chickens could swim!

BTW, my kitty is hanging in there. JBear was kind enough to PM me about her. She probably is end stage kidney failure, but we are just gonna love on her til the end. She has had a good, well-loved life as a spoiled-rotten only child and she is still eating and purring and sitting on laps, so we will take it day by day, and be thankful for each one we still have with her.
