It is a RAININ here.

Got the coops cleaned out, nesting room cleaned and tidied, the compost pile just doubled in size, then the winds and rain came. Thankfully the wind is now gone because my greenhouse is not yet ready to face wind.

definite NOT gonna run any sprinklers

I want to get the rainproof roofs built over the coops before the precip starts in earnest ....
picked up some already-painted wood that looks promising for that job, out of the pallet bins at J&I

got some real pretty laminate-flooring remnants there too, don't know yet what I will do with them

scrounged a digital camera out of Goodwill, hope it actually works ! should take the same memory stick as the camera that DH lost; obviously the one he had IN his camera is gone, but I had bought him two ...

it fires up, I can see things on the viewfinder, just not sure that its internal memory is functional

may take some chick-pix

also maybe a picture or two of the hanging feeder I put together (once I clean off all the flying dirt that Roopert the Digger showered over it)

awfully quiet on the list today ....

I sold my extra chicks faster than I expected, so I've got a 25 lb sack of Alber medicated chick feed I'm not going to need this year. Anyone interested in it? I don't know how well it keeps, and I hate to see it go to waste.

I had a couple like that too -- I knew they wouldn't hatch

but they made excellent sunny-side-up fried eggs ... I was very careful about handling them, rinsed them gently in the sink before puncturing the membrane

I toss them in the air for my dogs to catch - they get egg on their faces

hello everyone

Mama took the chicks out almost all day. The pullets have figured out to stay on the opposite side of the yard LOL but Juno has been letting Henrietta hang out with her and the chicks - thank goodness as she has stopped looking for Panda. And no more crowing - that was just weird! And Ron tells me that our Panda is doing well and laid her first egg!

Anyway - here are more pics from today

Look at how tiny the chicks are compared to their mama! (Giant Jersey)

I think this is the smallest chick - also different coloring than everyone else.

How cute is this?

And look at the one with the white face!
