I don't have a TV so I can't see, but I believe that Rainwolf is a bit North of there and on the other side of I-5.\\

I'm thinking it is fairly to close but west of Hallerlake, closer to the sound.

The address looks as if it's across the freeway from hallerlake and north of Rainwolf by a fair piece- close to both of them, and I'm still not assured of what googlemap is telling me.

Mondays, as if they aren't bad enough anyway.

I am a little behind.

So how do you pronounce Colville, Pend Oreille and Okanogan?

Coalville, Pond-o-ray

Cawlville, P(schwa)nd (schwa) RAY, o KEH na g(schwa)n, where (schwa) is that upside-down e that is the default vowel in all NW dialects.

The fire was a bit north of Rainwolf on the same side of the freeway. It was due east of me on the other side of the freeway.

OK so Google was right, then. UGH, no wonder I5 was socked.

Wake up, then post.

Trying to be efficient and speedy as I didn't finish putting the chickens on storm status yesterday, what with the pears and the hawk-chasing and the anniversary dinner and all.

I did get the patio umbrella strapped down, so it hasn't been windy yet. Which, I sudden;y realize, is why my right shoulder feels the way it does: I had to stretch up to my limit and pull the brass stop-pin out so the umbrella would fold up, a move which stopped working very well after I had a big corral panel fall on me.

Some of my favorite places with interesting local pronunciations. San Jacinto (county north of where I grew up) san JA-sinna, Weippe (Idaho) WE-ipe, and Ohanapecosh - O-hanna-pee-cosh (sounds like a sneeze).

Hello Fellow Washantonians!!!

So I'm on my first flock and I'm finishing up my coop as my 5 chicks are almost fully feathered and about to move out the mansion as my Girlfriend calls it.

The reason that I am posting is that my Girlfriend is a 3rd grade teacher in the Northshore School district and is wanting to incubate a batch of eggs in her classroom. I'm pretty sure I can make myself a pretty good incubator I'm just a little worried about ordering fertilized eggs online.

So here are my dilema's:

1. Where can I get fertilized eggs on the cheap???

2. "Oh crap it worked!" what do I do with all these chicks??? (I have 5 now and really only room for maybe 2 more).

So would members here be willing to let me purchase some fertilized eggs and also help me out if more than 2 hatch???

Hope everyone is staying dry!!!

Colin

Not "pee" though- it's another default schwa. The vowels in almost all Lushootseed and Sahaptin languages default to schwa, as do dialects where Scotch English (some of us call this part of the country "Hudson Bay Company Town) was a big influence. My "received pronunciations" for most PNW names are from Nisqually and Yakama people, so I was unsurprised when my linguistics profs described these things.

Thers several people on here that sell eggs. Back in July I bought a dozen from WA4-Hpoultrymom. My RIR hatched 9 out of the 12 ! they are about eight weeks old now. I will be keeping two and giving away the other seven this Saturday. You shouldn't have any trouble selling them or giving them away on here or craigslist. just depends on what breed they are and male or female

Oh good! Glad that wont be an issue. Prolly wont try and incubate a batch until like Febuary-Marchish. Thanks for the info. Will go ahead and tear apart the mini fridge that I found last week by a dumpster.
