Just make extra sure that the twine is SUPER secure at the other end...we had someone bring one of their chickens into the emergency clinic with a piece of twine hanging out of her mouth that had been used to hang a cabbage....it went all the way through her...wasn't much to be done because the owner couldn't afford surgery, so we cut it as far down as we could and hoped it would pass....

the ones I've seen were with a hole bored THROUGH the center of the cabbage, with a disk of some sort on the bottom to keep the cabbage from falling off

and with a sturdier sort of rope to hang it with -- yeah, I notice chickens will tend to eat anything long and slender ... they eat some of the paper shreds I use for nest boxes

they make those thingeys for rats and stuff.. like a long skewer that you can poke stuff onto for them to chew at.. I was actually thinking of getting a couple of these for the chickens that will be riding to Crossroads.. with apples and stuff? I imagine they won't do much but burrow into their shavings along the way, but it will make me feel better

Oh, excellant. I'm going to have salmon for dinner the next time it's clear enough to grill (and somebody replaces the charcoal they left out in the rain).

Huh. I suspect I need to find the reading glasses without scratches on them. Wonder where they went?

Ah. Easier to match when I see the data in graphic form: was confusing her with the cockerel above her.

I am just trying to keep up with the day crew around here. I had to drive my DDiL to her MS specialist in Tacoma today. I have also gotten some of the house cleaned up, and the trash and recycle to the curb.

Darn it the satellite company just turned off my receiver. I guess that means I should go put the puppies into their boxes and shut the doors on them.

Well I am so sorry for the lost lives today. It's so sad to see the loss of such a bright promise.
