Well, since I'm looking for a job, I think I'm going to have to get one at Dells to pay for my Poultry Habit.

At least, for their feed... How much feed should 24 birds go through?!

Also, I'm so frustrated, the lid on the garbage can that holds the feed wasn't put back on tightly, and rainwater somehow got in to it. It was only about 5# though. They'll finish it off before it starts to get icky. Still.

Plus, to top everything off..... I'm missing the Twilight opening night!!!

Selena! i just got finished reading "twilight" - my teen daughter just loaned it to me, and she and her bff are at the movie right now! bratties!!! i'm with ya - i told her to bring home book #2 from her friend's house TONIGHT! i loved harry potter books, eragon books... i just like good books, don't care if i'm the target audience or not!!!

you've got no wind djackjr??? it actually makes me giggle a bit, because to EARN money to go to see twilight, teen daughter and her friend had to clean the leaves and pine needles off of our patio and deck... not an hour after she left, the wind started to blow, and you really can't tell that they were out there busting butt for about an hour....

Thought I'd check in. So far its been cold and rainy, lots of strong cold wind. We are fostering a kitty, she is so tiny and scrappy. The cougar is still around, it killed another sheep last night. It kills for fun only eating alittle of the kill and it isnt affraid of people. Tonight I went out because the dogs were barking and 2 skunks went running out of the barn and the dog started to got after them but I managed to stop her. I got my pens done for winter so I am happy.
They say its sposed to snow tonight. I am going to see Bolt tomorrow which looks funny.
Thats pretty much it for my area.

TurtleChick: I know! I read the first book because I heard so much about it and then read the other 3. All 4 books in 6 days (when I was working 16 hour shifts on the weekends. So, those days I only read on breaks.) 2552 pages. Woot! I read HP too. I haven't read Eragon, yet. I'm trying to finish the 7 books I'm in the middle of. I was hoping to go to the theater in Gig Harbor, because it has a 21+ theater, and I thought I'd save my eardrums from the surround sound of teenage girls screaming.

However, I checked their site at 3:15 and they only had 3 showings today. 3pm, 6pm, and 9pm.... and 6 + 9 were already sold out! A 21 and over showing was sold out!

We're not alone!

Flyingmonkeypoop: Sorry bout the sheep. I think it makes it even worse when the predator kills just to kill. It makes it a little easier when you know the animal didn't die in vain. Bolt does seem funny. They have it over here in 3D, and I was tempted... but I've been bit by Twilight. (

I know. Lame.)

I haven't noticed any increase in wind today around here. Normally I can judge it by the sound of tree limbs hitting my house. Perhaps I was oblivious today though.

It seems like it's been a mellow November though. I don't mind too much... my DH keeps "forgetting" his saw at work when we need it to finish the chicken tractors. That's ok though... if he forgets again this week I'm planning on converting the VW bus shell in the back yard into a coop! It's just sitting there anyway... and I think it'd be cool! Chicken Tractor? It already has wheels!

Hey Dena,

Thought you said you wanted 3! lol I'd be up for a poultry show. I won't tell your friends & family if you don't tell mine!

Our BSL started to squat yesterday. Today she added a funny little stomping motion with the squat. It's cheep (ha) entertainment to reach out for her and watch her freeze in a funny position.

This is kind of cross posting, but since the subject of orpingtons came up I have just decided to find homes for my (2 )15 week old buff pullets. They are realy nice, sweet, healthy girls. Large bantams just about to start laying. I had six but something has been picking them off. They have just been dissapearing. I honestly don't know whether it has been a preditor or if it is the neighbor that has been giving me a hard time about what he sees as a lowbrow activity in "his" highbrow neighborhood.

Anyway I got to looking around for more hens and lucked across a very nice group of auracanas. I don't have room for both sets of hens now that I will be keeping them under lock and key and hardly have any orpingtons left anyway. So the orpington girls must go. If you are in need of a couple of nice golden hens I will try and meet you in a reasonable location just PM me.

anyone local (nearish to tacoma, anyway!) who either: knows of a good place around here to buy perma-guard d.e. OR would be interested in going in together on a bigger bag to save some money on shipping? we bought a couple of lbs. last year and i split it with a friend and it lasted me FOREVER (well, okay, not forever, but at least 9months...) - so i don't think i could use up a 20-50lb bag by myself before i die... pm me if you'd be interested and i can get serious about shopping around for the best source and costs..... OR if you have a big bag i could buy a couple of pounds from YOU???
