Flyingmonkeypoop- I know what you mean about people basically giving away horses for free/cheap. I have had a lot of my hay customers trying to give us their horses because they know that they will be well fed and not starved.
As far as small town folks go, you are absolutely right! They are the best. My husband was raised in a town in Minnesota that only had 125 people and he can't stand the people here. He says they are so rude and could care less about anybody but themselves. When we see someone who needs help, we just go help. We don't just drive on by or keep on walking. It's too bad that things can't be the way they used to be in the good ole days when neighbors helped neighbors. There are still some of us good people our there.

Well I got good news from my Homeowners association, they have no restrictions on chickens. Even the President has 4 Silkies

So now my coop design just changed to the whole shed being converted to the coop and a bigger run

We just had 2 suprise chickens yesterday......wnt out to the coop and there where 2 little chicks under our broody girl. and just 2 days before that I was going to toss all the eggs she had been sitting on....I thought she had been sitting to long....so I am going to give the 3 remaining eggs a few more days....hmmm maybe I will candle them today.
Once you get chickens the start popping out of the woodwork!

That's Centralia, the one that flooded last winter if I remember right.... but then again... I think they are just like 10 min from each other.

Well cannot make it. That is the weekend the Wife and I stay in Seattle to take in all the Christmas stuff. We drive in Saturday Morning Check into our Hotel and do a little shopping(little this year for sure!!) have a nice dinner and relax in our room...It's been a 14 year tradition since we got married.

awwwwwww djackjr, that's so sweet! happy xmas tradition weekend to ya (a little early)!

i'm debating going to the show........ i just want to oogle orpingtons....

but maybe it would be dangerous to go. then i'd decide that i really do want sussex and faverolles too. hmmm. might be hazardous!

can anyone tell me what to expect? i've never been to a poultry show. is it kind of like the poultry barn at the puyallup fair? for instance, how long (estimate) does it take to wander around and see the chickenses? i'm trying to decide if it's worth hauling my kidlets down (car ride, lunch, etc) or if i should just miss it.

thanks!!!

TurtleChick, this will be my first show too. I'm not quite sure what to expect besides lots of temptation. I'm giving my daughter my wallet to hang onto since I have little self-control when it comes to poultry.

you're lucky that you have the option! if i gave my wallet to my shorties (6 and 3), they'd wipe out every CENT themselves.... i'd end up with no money AND no new chickens!!!

I'm almost sure that Coltin (my 9 yr old) an I are going. This will be his first show since he joined 4H and I really want him to go see a show before he starts showing, and some of the kids from his 4H will be going too. (i've never been to a show either)
