I got interrupted in the middle of replacing the stove-wall of my cabinets with sheet metal and restaurant style shelving; I long ago replaced the cheap cabinets on one wall with open shelving. And I *will* some day replace the stupid pantry cabinet with one of those pull-out vertical shelf things, because so much food gets wasted by being shoved to the back and forgotten.
I can so relate to stuff getting shoved into the back of cabinets. This year I have had to throw out more cans of food than ever before. I think I finally know where a lot of money has gone. I have cleaned out the medicine area. I keep both supplements and over the counter meds together. I found that I must have stopped buying as many different vitamins and such, back in 2006 or 2007, because I had a lot of bottles with pull dates of 2008. I got tough with myself and threw out anything with a past pull date. Then I located another stash of the same kind of things. DH had is stash in a living room cabinet. That stash got the toss also.
DH and his dad have built me pull out draws in the cheap cabinets that came with the house. I do know that I prefer the drawers that have the pulls attached to the bottom of the drawers better than the drawer that have the hardware on the sides of the drawers. The slides that are on the sides damage the inside of door to the cabinets. I have some open shelving in the kitchen, but I am always concerned with dust and grease collecting on the dishes. My favorite thing that DH built me were the pull out spice racks that hang from the cabinets.
My open shelves are away from the stove and upwind of the exhaust fan- they do need dusted, but everything needs dusted all the time here (although I believe the dust is rightly settled today). I was tired of having what was essentially a big cluttered shelf covered with things my husband hadn't thrown out- empty medicine bottles chief among them- and it's easier to keep 10" wide shelves clean than a 24" counter. I need an island or a flip-up prep table, but I've gotten good at cooking on a single 24" square of granite.
I was running a bath when I decided to go check that all the plastic was still where it belonged: no. And the poor sheep was so wet! I put a tarp bigger than his pen over him, and he seems much happier now. I'm much happier after marinating in epsom salts, and am about to go to bed early, although my hair is soaked and I'll have to wear a towel to bed.
The chickens are happier, too, although I don't know if they'll be happy above 25mph winds.

DH and I will be camping at the fairgrounds, and I managed to arrange for tickets to the Sat. dinner. I hope to put faces to as many names as possible.
Cool I have a little funny looking trailer and blue ford Xcab pickup. What will ya be in maybe we can be neighbors. I plan to be there early Friday afternoon
OK so who was it wanted to see my kennel roof. Here it is very simple and has with stood some VERY bad wind. It just sets on top andis held in place with plumbers tape.
Well I have to get up in the morning. DH and I are going to get our peepers checked out. Neither of us can see these days. I could have better vision if the nasty little dogs hadn't chewed on my 600.00 plus glasses.
