Pretty sure GMO/GE corn has already been on our dinner tables for many years already! Along with many other GMO/GE foods. They've just been integrated without the general publics knowledge. I, too, don't want to consume them and I don't want my animals to consume them either!!

We have a right to know what we're eating, what we're serving our families - to make the CHOICE.

They absolutely, positively DO need to be labeled.

IMHO, I believe the only place a GMO belongs is in the tank of a hybrid car and even that's up for serious debate.

People need to understand that if you continue to mess with Mother Nature like this, she WILL pay you back and it won't be pretty when she does!!

For those of you whom believe these products are tested BY the FDA? You're wrong. The FDA allows the companies (like Monsanto) to do their own [alleged] studies on the products and then the FDA [allegedly] reviews those [alleged] studies provided by them. If you ask me, that's akin to allowing a fox to stay the weekend in your henhouse and trust the fox won't massacre your flock! FOLLOW THE MONEY!!!!!!!!

Oh, and safe travels!

We, too, are preparing for a trip out of town for a few days. (hopefully to someplace sunnier than home!! LOL)

The sixth chick is out of another Christina egg. And I am 100% exhausted by evidence of which I'd only used one of the heavy duty bungy cords on the Hamburg gate.

I'm supposed to go to order contact lenses tomorrow, and also pick up more PVC pipe and some replacement drill bits at HD, and I suspect I won't even want to get out of *bed.*

I've been in nursing school.

I think I went five nights without more than four hours of sleep.

Calesta, a frequent exhibitor at the show, was supposed to ride with me. Her health is not good and she has had to cancel. I will still be there.

I'm bringing 10 (YES

TEN) geese mostly the large toulouse. Can bring a couple nice holderread line embden girls if someone is interested. Bringing sebastopols and embdens to show as well.
Also bringing 13 silkies to show, although most of them aren't completely out of molt and have far too many pin feathers (oi, what a pain!) so aren't up to their fluffy best.
Will have silkies for sale. Pairs mostly.

See you guys there! Calesta's riding with me.

WHERE are you putting TEN geese????? lol!! Can't wait to see ya!! And it's going to be really fun watching all the Firsts things they are doing--it will be dang interesting

Not bringing the little Civic chicken-clown-car this time. Bringing a truck and a (rented) trailer. Nothing less would work! Also have a sale table and am bringing cages to use for that. Phew.

I couldn't make it to enter any birds again this year and am still looking at whether I can even make the trip down just to see the show. So, for those attending, would you please let the Superintendent, the judges, and others know that I REALLY like the "FIRST's" mentioned above. Particularly the ring judging for Runners as I show Runners and that's the way it should be done. I would like them to know I support this and encourage them to do it all the time!

On a side note, I saw somebody on one of the poultry sites I visit who was looking for Polish & Silkies. If anyone else knows who that is, they can point them to Ultrasol.

God Bless,

Don't be bummed yet! If today is only day 20, things can definently still happen! I've had some early hatches and some late hatches. Don't give up yet! You aren't even on the 21st day yet!

good going !

the pale aqua egg is likely Deirdre's ... hers are the "bluest" of the bunch but sometimes verge on aqua rather than her usual pale turquoise ... Phoebe's are definitely towards pale-moss-green (and usually more pointed at each end); Anitra's vary between aqua, pale mint, and dirty-grass-smudge green; and you know about Christina's, usually larger than any of the others, and varying from celadon to mint to almost stony gray

much easier to ID Becky's and Ginger;s !

I took my camera out with me when I guided them into the chicken tractor today (I sat out in the bit of sun we had this afternoon), but the chicken-wire definitely picked up the sunlight, so you have to sort of peer through that, to see the chickens ... I may post a picture or two, I got a couple of Roopert that show the "red leakage" on his wings, as well as showing the metallic teal of his hackle feathers a bit better (his wing bows still look black in the pictures but they too gleam teal metallic)

I think I got a picture of each of the six hens, but they were moving around too much, delighted to snack on the young grass shoots and dig for seeds knocked down by wind and weather

Hope you all have fun at the show! I really wish we could have made it! Can't wait to see pic's and hear results!

And if anybody sees any pretty silkied Serama's for sale (not frizzled), and would be so kind as to let me know what they see (w/ perhaps a pic/price email) and possibly be willing to purchase them for me and transport them back to the west side where I would come pick them up from you and reimburse you, I and my DD would be forever grateful! I'd love even just one young pullet/hen, but would maybe go for two so they have company.

Had a bit of a scare today. Got a call from the high school that my DD passed out in science class and I needed to come and get her. They neglected to tell me over the phone that it was actually her Anatomy class, and that it was due to them watching a film of a patient getting a face lift.
sickbyc.gif

So I was all freaking out wondering what would have caused her to faint as I raced to the school. She's watched many similar types of films and done her share of disections, and never had a problem. She said it wasn't due to seeing the surgery at all, but something to do with the surgical lights in the film. She had surgery on her foot earlier this year, and somehow the lights in the film reminded her of her surgery and freaked her out. Weird. Anyway, she seems totally fine now, other than being totally mortified.

All my other hatches have usually started on day 19 and hatched through 20. So I am kind of freaking out. A few of the eggs were not blacked out (I saw a fetus though earlier). I candled when I put them on lockdown. Do you think that these had early demise? They had quite a bit of fluid in the egg, and there is definitely a solid something in there. I hope I get a few hatches. I am just sure I did something wrong, but I am not sure yet what it is. The eggs were fine....you are not to worry. I candeled them on day 8...I had told you how many were looking good.
