Thanks to Deirdre (+Scott), Dawn and Jaime - I now have a coop in my backyard! Woot!

Ari didn't want to come out. She also wanted to get IN the coop, which I vetoed.

(That circus tent thing is a trampoline - I might move it later).

The EEs immediately found a good place for dust bathing. I think they were the only ones though.

(Sorry for the crappy out-of-focus pictures)

So now I need to get some hardware cloth for the perimeter...and bedding...and maybe a hanging feeder. Oh, and it's hard to keep the door shut from the inside. There's no latch there. That probably won't be a big issue later, but I don't want them to get out yet.

I've thought about getting one. What kind did you get? I'm wondering how thrilled DH would be if I bought him one for Christmas. Though I'm afraid after 20 years he's caught on to my knack for buying him something as a gift that he knows I want.

Sounds like CL has seen WAY too much stuff happening on her property. Hopefully mine wouldn't be quite as "revealing". Seeing critters invade your yard after dark might be scary though. Don't know if I'd ever be able to sleep well again!

I was happy to help as well.

I just got back from Lowes to pick up a light for inside as my girls will have to have a little bit of warmth for a while. They are inside my house right now and it only gets to around 60 in the room they are in. I have the hanging feeder and water, but just noticed the floor to the coop (which is also the ceiling to the lower play area) is thin enough where my hook would come out the other side. So I get to head back to Lowes to get two 2x4 and slap them up there.

And the door inside, while big enough for me to clean up, a little tight for a grown man to wedge himself in to do some wiring on the ceiling. It will get done and I may be the one in there installing the light, which I'm fine with.

Hey there! are we talking the "UP"??? I was a U-pper for a while as a kid, originally from the lower half, 50 miles north of DE troit!! lol! I loved it up there!!! Glad your here!!

we've been in WA since 1977 but all the kin are back there spread over the lower half!! Things you have to worry about with any coon or skunk and keep this in mind is they are both more likely to carry rabies then any other animals besides bats, so, yea, I don't go looking for trouble, but keeping them out is a very good thing!! Although the incidence of rabies is rather low here in WA, we do have it!!! Just some unsolicited information!!

That looks great and you have great BYC friends!

You will have to make Ari a fort out of the tramp so she can get inside that instead of the coop.

I'm interested to see how yours looks when it's set up!

I stopped using the heat for my birds about a week ago, and I think they're doing fine. They're a little older though.
