They do look a bit...leperous.

But I am biased: I really did get thoroughly pinched when I thoroughly asked for it. Not as badly hurt as the time my sister was walking the top rail of a split rain fence and fell into a quarter-acre pen of young Toulouse Lops being fattened for Chrstmas, nor with the lasting damage a RIR rooster caused me when he decided he'd had it up to HERE with me walking impolitely through his feeding flock and spurred the hell out of my thigh (the deep scar tissue burns like a bald-faced-hornet sting when it gets cold).

Dinosaurs, all of them, and remembering when they ruled the world.

I hear it's harder than you think it's going to be.

It is tough, but I still remember the best part of my day being at the end of the work day when I would say to my co-workers, "I'm gonna go pick up my baby now". I could not WAIT to see her smiling face at the end of the day!
Oddly, one of the weirdest things was at first when I was picking her up from her wonderful day care, (we had a wonderful day care mom that we are still friends with), was that she smelled different. It freaked me out at first. I realized that it was just because they were using a different baby lotion than I was, but it was such a primal thing for me to want my baby to smell familiar. I finally asked them to not use that lotion on her anymore because it weirded me out.

Good baby care can be a positive thing though. Lily was so well socialized, she learned a lot, she was well loved and it made me appreciate the time I was able to spend with her that much more. One on one playtime with her always came first, before household chores. My day care Mom was also the one who alerted me to Lily's speech issues early on and called a woman she knew to come into the day care to take a look at Lily and help us decide the next course of action for her. Lily eventually ended up in speech therapy at Mary Bridge and by the time she was 3 years old she was getting on a bus a couple of days a week to attend classes in public school through Child Find.
Without my Day Care Mom's attentiveness, I might not have known Lily was having speech issues. Her day care mom was one of the only people who could actually understand what Lily was trying to say. It was a tough time for all of us, but thank goodness we had a wonderful support system. Lily was getting speech help from 2 years through to second grade. She eventually caught up and surpassed her peers in all areas and is an honors student in her second year of college.

It is hard not to miss her during your work hours, but it does make getting her back into your arms that much sweeter!

Well when you put it that way it does sound good. lol I'll have to give it a try again.

Anyone know where I could get a home raised turkey for thanksgiving this year? lol Myself and my DH have never had home raised turkey. Would like to change that. And possibly if HE likes it, he will allow me to raise a couple.
