I think EVERYONE should have at least TWO coops
D.gif

I happy she got her buck. Gary should know by now, that if she can get one one buck, she'll be able to get another one. I hope he helps, before she starts stalking him.

With folks like us I'm sure that they would never find his body.

not even gonna go there.

That's okay! I have watched way to many C.S.I. shows. I wouldn't need much help anymore.

But I do know that bacon will be evolved.

This is all I am doing in my greenhouse too. I would like to put the light on a timer. I am thinking about doing the same the light in the garden window.

I've had complaints about energy usage (I guess having an incubator and heat lamp running 24/7 for three batches of chicks will do that), so I'm trying to be good. A timer doesn't care if it's warm enough. I'm hoping to get a Brinsea brooder for Christmas.

Well I don't know what you are running for heat lamp or what your electric rates are but I cantell you for most one 250 watt heat lamp 24/7 will add about $25 a month to the power bill.

I use the temperature controller for the heat in the greenhouse. But I also cover the green house roof with as many layers as I can during a really cold spell. I have more than enough light in it, with the grow light. It seems to help with energy consumption. I have also replace most of the wall and roof panels. I got the greenhouse from Harbor Freight. The panels that came with it were not high quality thermal panes. I have been slowly replacing the panels this past year. So it is much better insulated than before. I have one more set of panels to get done before it gets super cold. The replacement panels are 40.00 each and will only fill two spots, out of 8 spots on the roof alone. I still have the sides next to the chicken coop to replace and 3 full panels on the back end of the greenhouse. So what just another 240.00 to complete the upgrade.

The new panels are thicker than the original panels too. This makes swapping them out not easy. Of course it doesn't help that DH wire tied the whole thing together. The first year or two we had the greenhouse, we spent a lot of time putting it back together every time the wind would blow.

Brrrrr... It's getting COLD here!!

Methinks it's time to start piling up firewood closer to the house. Or talk The Parents into connecting the propane this year.

I discovered very quickly that the single layer of plastic didn't hold in much heat. I covered the greenhouse with winter weight row cover. It retains more heat at night, and is less likely to overheat during the day (I want things to stay dormant). I hold the row cover in place with rocks and big safety pins.
The cover also means I can put orchids in there during the summer.

eenie; somebody that lives on your dad's street, had their house broken into, and a shotgun was stolen.

I'm going to have to start thinking about locking my doors. The thief got into the house through an unlocked door.

At least I don't have guns in my unlocked house, at least not technically. I don't think the plastic bb gun is going to make a difference.

Poor baby. I loved the photos you posted of her yesterday. Brought back the sad memory of when Lily was getting her shots at 2 months. She had been smiling, talking, and interacting with the nurse who said, "Oh no, I'm going to feel really bad in a minute." She gave Lily the shot and without taking her eyes off of the nurses, Lily's little face just crumpled with an expression of shock and betrayal as she began to cry. Broke my heart - I think the nurse and I both cried along with her.

Hope Audrey is feeling better soon.

She's doing okay this morning...she (and I) took a 2.5 hour nap....she got another bottle and then fell back to sleep on me for 45 minutes and probably would still be asleep, except I really had to pee!

She's on her mat smiling and kicking her legs. She loves that thing! It's the one that plays music & jungle noises...along with flashing lights.
