Little Miss Fluffy Pants started crowing today.

Now, I know beyond a doubt that he is a boy.

Anyone want a 6 month old fluffy Buff Cochin? He is a really nice guy, never tried to attack me or anything. I thought he was the lead hen. He stood there nicely for his bath and drying off today.

He was always big and fluffy compared to my Cornish.

Oh my gosh, so much is going on with every one...

On monday night we had to call the vet out. We had to put one of our firsts goats down. It was so sad, my son woke me up and told me to call the vet.. DS was crying when he told me, it was his first goat. But she's in a good place she has my mom to love on her now...

Boy its cold here all day now.

I tell you I just love my English% orps they are huge and so sweet, than the next on the list are the Light and Corn Sussexs. WE about trip over them when we are out in the pasture they are just so funny...

So glad CL's FIL did so well today! Praying that he will continue to heal quickly.

CR, did you get the free coop? Hope you didn't hurt your back!

Broody--hope you get a great offer and everything continues to fall into place.

Question! Friday I found our first egg in the run. No egg yesterday. Today I found an egg in the corner of the coop, but it was broken and empty. Do I need to do anything? Or will they just figure this out eventually?

I have never seen anyone in the nest boxes. Maybe they don't like them. They are attached to the coop wall, 12 inches up, and can be opened from the outside. I have an old milk crate I could fill and put on the coop floor to see if they choose that. Or a kitty litter box. They do not roost at night, just snuggle in a corner of the coop. They never fly up onto anything, so maybe they don't like the boxes up off the ground? What do you think?

CloverLeaf, glad to hear things went well with FIL! Will keep sending thoughts and prayers.

Tamara, I am sorry to hear about your daughters Cochin. That is so sad. Hopefully she finds one she likes to show.

Everything was frozen this morning! I disconnected the auto waterers and put out the heated waterers for the duration.
My babies seem to be doing fine.
I do have a little heat in their coop for now. The youngest one is just 8 weeks.
I will gradually tone it down over the next few weeks.
Gave then all some scratch before bed to help them stay warm.
I am so not ok with this cold! But I guess it's better than constant rain.

Well, gotta go check on my BR, she can't get up to the roost right now because her wing feathers haven't grown back in yet.

She lost all but one on each side! I made a step to help her but she was just roosting on that last night looking over at everyone else.
So I will help her until she can do it herself.

I am such a softie!

Hope everyone has a great evening!

Have you put fake eggs or golf balls on the nest boxes? And have you tried to put them up on the roost just after they go in? You could also try keeping them locked in the coop until later in the morning. Just throwing ideas out there. I would start with showing them how to roost at night. One problem at a time!
