I'm not going to the show but I can hold him for you until my next transportation opportunity. He really does need to go to a home where he'll be used. I'm gonna be very sad when he goes. Same with my Araucana boys.

I already miss my Wheaten Ameraucana girls.

It would be really nice if there was someone near me who could pick up some slack on days when I'm all wheezy and sneezy and urk, but no such luck. So, I shall soldier bravely on while wearing a mask so I don't sneeze on the chickens.

Yes, and it puts a big smile on my face to see that photo of her.

Forgot to mention - The Araucana pullets I sold, those girls are 3 months old, not 2.

I hope all the girls settled in well, and all work out for everyone. Now I'm just trying to make sure my boys go to good homes, because they're honestly what I will miss most.

good morning

it was nice to have some light before leaving for work this morning. I got to say good morning to the new Marans - who are not "morning birds" it seems LOL I wake up the girls every morning and let them out - most are loudly asking to go out before it's fully light even, because they know it's breakfast time! But the Marans were not interested in their hot oatmeal and instead wanted only to sleep. I placed one on the floor of the tiny run where it promptly turned to the wall and went back to sleep - the other one went back up the ramp and was halfway in - so I stuck my head in to see what was happening and she was making cute snoring sounds

Maybe they'll be more excited for warm oatmeal after a day or two of their new home LOL

I did see them awake about a half hour later - they were munching on the apple & pumpkin I'd left for a treat. The rest of the birds came over once to say hello and then pretty much ignored them.

Oh - and someone crowed this morning. Not sure if it was Henrietta (our crowing hen) or one of the cockerels. Ah...the chicken drama

I wish your time of need had come along with a time I had surplus housing instead of a deficit.

I have to keep reminding myself that I spent the late spring/early summer nursing a broken rib, and not being able to lift, stretch, or bend- otherwise I just kick myself around the houses for being generally incompetent, despite the evidence to the contrary I've surrounded myself with.
