I made my own wine while in California.
FiL has 2 rows of Pinot Noir, about 40 plants, now will be 12 years old, perfect.
We had white wine grapes at our place.
We made some awsome wine!!!!!!!
I still have to get some "Island " vines here...cannot remember the whole name, island something, that grow well here.
Unfortunately, have not found a red wine grape that likes this wet cool clime.
If anyone knows, please PM me, I want to get them planted THIS fall.

My dad used to make wines. He made a huckleberry wine once that he still raves about. I remember being a kid and picking Dandelions at Perrigan Lake Park for my dad to make wine. Not sure hwo that ever turned out.

such an adorable video of her laughing! We lived with a humidifier in our DS room...especially in the winter.

Also - for sickness, colic, teething, etc. I relied heavily (and still rely at times) on Hyland's Homeopathic remedies. The colic was awesome for upset tummies or when they are just not happy in general; teething tablets were awesome, and we STILL use the cold tabs with our 9 year old. http://www.hylands.com

OK peeps, I gotta run (LOL yeah right!)
Gotta meet someone on the freeway & drop off a cockeral...in Lacey.
Then I get to spend some time at Mom & Dad's and dodge the hyper Labrador who very well may knock my wobbly self right back in the dirt again!
This morning my knee is MUCH less swollen, and tomorrow I see the Orthopaedic Surgeon..we laughed that we would go to him tomorrow & my knee would be all better and he would say "so...what seems to be the problem???"
The bruising is getting that ugly yellow /green/charcoally color...tornadoe gray.
So far, it is looking really good under the circumstances.
DH is doing a fantastic job feeding & careing for all the birds.
OK, gotta go!

P.S. Maybe one of us attending the show should get a list of food we are bringing so we do not duplicate too much?
So here is my list:
Steamed, cold prawns (at least 3 pounds)
Cocktail sauce
MAYBE smoked oysters (if I can get at the smoker)

OK??

Morning!

Heather, a laughing Audrey was a great way to start the day!

My husband and I now have two down comforters on the bed, and a foofy mattress pad, and are sleeping better- they're old comforters and a bit heavy (probably it's having two comforter covers that really brings the weight up!) but with all the metal in his back he needs to keep warm, and I'm having less ankle and knee pain, almost certainly because I don't pull the covers up over my hear trying to get warm and end up with my legs uncovered.

Sleep is good- the healing sleep after illness is even better, although not worth getting sick in the first place!

OK I am going to get up on the soap box for a bit.. PLEASE for anyone going into the woods whether hunting, picking berries, picking mushrooms or for any other reason. DO NOT go alone ALWAYS take at least one other person with you. Also leave detail directions of where you are going and DO NOT go else where until you make contact to confirm you have changed plans. See you just never know what may happen out there. You could get lost, get hurt or have some unexpected medical problem.

I beg you PLEASE for your self and those around you DO NOT GO ALONE !!!!!
I was a SAR volunteer for many years and spent many cold hours out searching for peoples loved ones. Please keep in mind that SAR people are volunteers giving freely of thier time and equipment. So Please anytime you can take a minute to tell them thanks. That is all the pay they get !!
Still hoping Dave is found safe.

I would love to try and make some wine! A friend of mine makes it but he buys his grapes from somewhere. Would be fun to grow your own. Maybe I should get a kit from Sadie.

DH tried to make beer once. He mistakenly thought the bubbling/fermenting had tapered off enough to bottle it. There he goes thinking again( he uses that on me all the time so it's my turn now). Anyway, the bottles either exploded or the entire contents bubbled and foamed out upon opening so there was nothing left to drink! We haven't tried it again yet but would like to try. This is the time of year since it has to be kept cool and it's hard in the summer.

Oh, and Chickie, We have a local winery and another local who grows grapes but hasn't got to the wine making part yet. I can ask them what varieties they grow. I know they have some reds although there are good and bad years.

Okay, there used to be an add for a "mouse trap" on here..can't find it now. Used heavy rubber bands in bottles that looked like pop bottles. I am wanting to find a good safe mouse trap (besides a cat)...now I can't find the add. It had a big dog in the add. Anyone know? Help?
