Okay, we used to have ATT, so I believe I have several phones to choose from. I'll locate them all, take a photo and send it to you. If you want one, it's yours. There's a nice variety to choose from. If you'd like - not trying to force one on you.

Sadie, feathers do compost although they take a while but in a heat composting situation it would be faster. I throw the chicken waste with the feathers into my compost piles.

Not sure about city stuff. I know Purdy Topsoil makes their compost out of yard waste. Don't see any reason why there can't be yard waste from chickens! They poop in the 'yard'. LOL

From what I understand Teggro is from sewer waste. They may be adding yard waste these days but you would have to ask. I don't trust Teggro! It's from human waste and even though it's composted at high heat you never know what pathogens can withstand the heat. It's from the sewer so even hospitals contribute. Lots of sick people! Above all, never, never, never use it on your vegetables! I don't care what anybody says about how safe it is. Even if it was, just the thought! Kind of like the maggot thing!

Thanks CGG. I did NOT know that about the Tagro, but considering your line of work I guess you'd be more informed about those kinds of things. That's a little scary. I've never purchased any, but had planted some veggie seeds in it when I went to one of the city's free classes and they gave us all the stuff for free. Fortunately? I'm a very bad gardener so none of them ever took off well enough for me to plant them anywhere.

Speaking of veggies, this is what I found in a mushroom stem
Yup, it really is a tooth! And you can see in the bottom of the stem where it was lodged.

So, I'm thinking someone tossed a body into the compost and the mushroom farm was growing mushrooms on it. Anyway, I called the police, figuring they would want to know if a missing body was in a compost heap, and the person (dispatcher) told me it wasn't police business and I should just go to the store and complain

I finally convinced her to send out a deputy. He came, and even he wouldn't touch it with his bare hands. He put on gloves, bagged it and took it away. He called a few days later to let me know what forensics had turned up.

Seems it was a prosthetic that is used in heads in dentistry schools for training dentists.

I still want to know how it got into the mushroom stem

I am twisting the cut wires together; this is more secure and faster on the selvidge edges. And I HAD the wire: I don't have cage clips, nor any way to run around and shop for them.

I'm signed off zip-ties until I get a whole bag that doesn't have half of them break when you put any stress on them.

Sheesh, you'd think I broke something instead of made it.

For fear of running this into the ground, I second the use of zip ties and clips. You can get the clips at any hardware store and I've rarely had a zip tie break.

That said, I appreciate how you can find an alternative solution. Everyones brains work differently. I think people just wanted to try and help make things easier for you but even though your solution seems more difficult or complicated to most it wasn't to you. If you are stuck in the middle of nowhere and have to come up with solutions using only the materials currently available I know you will be just fine. A female McGuyver!

[rant] I think the people on this board have a hard time with the concept of what it is like to live without a vehicle. I am sure most of you have been without a vehicle for days, possibly a week, but it is different when it is all the time. How many of y'all want to walk a mile and a half (at least) each way for zip-ties (which may or may not work) in this weather? How many of y'all think their DSpouse would be willing to drive you the mile and a half, just for zip-ties, after a long day at work? That is not taking into consideration the physical limitations of either person.[/rant]

I don't think anybody was aware of or refering to anybody's transportation situation . And I don't think any of us intended to come across as " just go down to the store and get some". While yes I do have a vehicle I also live 20 miles from town and stores. I do not make a trip for one or 2 things unless it is dw's meds.
I think we all intended to come across suggestions of what other things may work.

Bring Dave Sherwood Home
Dave left his house early Friday morning to go for a day hunt in the Margaret area (Randle side) of Mt. St. Helens. The area he was hunting is just west of Ryan Lake - close to the Green River Horse Camp in the Gifford Pinchot Forest. When he didn't arrive home in the evening the Sheriff was located. However, his t...ruck wasn't found until late morning/early afternoon Saturday. An elk was found with signs of Dave having arrived at and started to prepare the elk. Friends, Family, and Search & Rescue have been earnestly looking for Dave since Saturday. The weather and terrain has made this a very difficult process but we are NOT done. If you are of clear mind, able body, and feel confident in the woods you are welcome to come down - pair up - and join the search. Otherwise, please know how much your care, concern, and prayers mean to our family. From the bottom of her Heart, his wife, Sue Sherwood - Thanks you!
