Stumpfarmer I understand what you are saying.
he has his right to his opinions & we must respect other's rights to their opinions..
However, that we cannot have ours.
We must have his.
This is reminiscent of how the longhorn men reacted when a Hereford bull was imported, and so on.
It makes my mind wander to how these types(people) feel about the divirsity of human 'breeds' we now have here in the USA.
makes you wonder....makes ME wonder.
Although enough is enough & we will carry on.(move on).....and let him have his opinion.

I have been trying to decide if I want to keep these birds.
There is 9, and I may want to sell them....as a whole flock.
I have to trim breeds further due to my recent wonderful injury...hate to do it but really have to sell off some birds & the Icelandics need to go.
Serious inquiries reply PM.
Later guys!!

My response to people who say one should be supporting American breeds is that my climate bears no resemblance to New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Delaware, Iowa, Massachusetts, or almost any place else in this country. It would make little sense to insist on having breeds developed for those climates.

Granted it doesn't resemble Switzerland much either, but the Brabant? Very much.

Hamburgs are from Holland, of course, and the young lady and I have been laughing about just how similar the weather is here and there right now.

When I was in Hamburg, it was in Germany. When did it get annexed by Holland?

The chickens were developed in Holland; I'm not sure why the breed came to be called Hamburgs. Politics of some sort I suppose. I'd check feathersite but I'm on a strict timeline and need to do six other things first.

(So far today, I've washed my hair and put it up to dry on velcro rollers, washed a load of towels and my heavy towelling robe, DH and I have fed and watered the chickies and I've made the coiled wire to finish the last unreinforced wire/wire join on the Wyandotte pen, and put my lunch in too cook. Now I need to go take my insulin, eat lunch, and sort a couple of other loads of laundry). (This is like what I did yesterday X4)

OK so I went and re-visited the "RULES" set forth by WFF. Here is what they read in re: to the questions some of us have been trying to get answers. I really think we need to play by the "rules" set by them. And we will still be able to do all that we had planned.

See here is the direct quote about the items we have questions on.

"- B.Y.O.C. - Please bring your own chairs to sit on, there will be some available.
- Lunch – Lunch will be on your own. The fairgrounds will have a concession stand open.

- Informational Display: Any club or individual may set up an informational display but they must provide their own tables and chairs. Only non-food items may be sold (this is a fair policy). There will be no fee for this activity. A raffle donation would be greatly appreciated by those selling things. We cannot guarantee extra available tables.

- Vendors – There is a $10.00 fee for a vendors set up, please bring your own tables and chairs. We cannot guarantee extra available tables."

Now based on the way I read this (which could be wrong). They have left the front door WIDE OPEN for all of the things I know we have had questions about. I also find it interesting that there is no mention of reservations for the banquet. I bet Tim and Debbie are really gonna like that idea of not knowing how many they are feeding.
What I see IMHO looks like a bunch of ROOKIE mistakes.
BTW CL I can supply you with 3-4 large dog crates to use while at the show.
