Hubby and I, and another friend, we sell Scovies and get really good prices, especially around this time of the year. I think there must be a number of Asian holidays, because we sold out our drakes in less than a week. The ad on Craigs List was taken down the same day I put it up! And, there was so much demand, they even bought some ducks, which being smaller aren't very much prized.

Also of interest, the more red caruncles round the eyes and on the face, the more they will pay. I'm not sure why, perhaps it's because "red" in China is good luck! In any event, we are going to try doubling our hatching next year, since we did so well this year.

Boning Day!

Yup, tomorrow is boning day. I've got someone coming over to learn how to bone a chicken, a duck and a rabbit. For all the BYC'rs who know how, it really isn't hard, we know - but for those who don't know how, it can be very daunting.

So, my evil plan is to give her a glass of wine first, loosen her up and then just get on with it. So, most glorious spousal unit gets a really nice duck dinner, mid week!

Tonight it's bean soup, with some leftover ham from thanksgiving, and a lovely piece of crusty bread and an Argentinian Malbec to wash it down. Oh, wait, I'm already drinking that, maybe he should have a nice Chianti Classico
