OK Mr Rustler! I'm only going to say this once! Waa Waa Waa, somebody call the Wambulance. You have a hundred people for you and one against. Stop letting the one person bug you and make you feel like you want to quit the show. You have the support and encouragement of EVERYONE else so COWBOY UP and stop whining.

That reminds me... anyone know of any large stock tanks that need a home? anything that holds 2-500 gallons of water and won't start leaking on me any time soon.

When I was a little girl I remember my dad constantly being upset with Sears. He eventually took his business elsewhere. To this day I don't do Sears. My DH will only use it for Craftsman tools since they are guaranteed for life.

I'll still buy Craftsman, probably, but I'll pay cash, since that ends up costing the company money in a big way.

I had a nice time meeting people, but I was feeling less than healthy, and having trouble wrestling my big camera- I usually shoot a little Panasonic Lumix these days, and was fumbling with focus and with the weight and awkwardness of the Nikon.

Did come to a better estimation of what I want in bantams- although the D'anvers still is with a * because the males are supposedly human-agressive. If I'd had money to spare (which is why my wallet was in the car), or anywhere to put them, I'd have bought three pretty, pretty OEGB hens, two porcelian and a mille fleur. Not to mention L. Frank Baum's book about Hamburgs. And a bell, maybe, although I suspect that'll need to wait until the car is paid off.

I missed seeing people and things and feel as if I have worked an extra shift from the noise: next chicken show I bring hearing protectors (and I still think I need to raise Guineas and keep them just across the fence from the daycare with the squeaky swingset). Hopefully I'll be less run down for Monroe in March.

It was wonderful meeting everyone today. I'm just sorry we had to leave so early. Poor hubby has some kind of inner ear problem, and we wanted to get him to the clinic before Monday. Plus we had a friend with us so we had to make certain accommodations.

Anyway, I loved all of you, enjoyed the chatter, the food was good, I liked the show and fell in love with so many birds

I'm looking forward to the next one.

This won't help anyone since it is past but I saved a bunch on eggcartons.com cyber Monday sale. I buy my egg cartons from them and also my excelsior pads I use in my nest boxes. Those usually cost a bunch for shipping. They had free shipping AND 20% off so I stocked up. If you get on their email list you will get notification. Other times during the year they will have free shipping and I only but my stuff when those sales are on. I once bought the 2 and 4 hole wood nest boxes. They had seconds available at 1/2 price but they were heavy and shipping was a bunch. The nest time they had free shipping I checked to see if they still had the 1/2 price nest boxes and they did! Score! Yes, I know I can make my own but since I have minimal time it was worth it to buy these.

Good for you CCG - of course I just received a huge shipment of stuff from them last week and missed out on the deal, but will look for free shipping in the future. I decided to start using the excelsior pads after seeing them at your place. I really like them so far. Much tidier and nothing getting kicked out all over the place. Thanks for the tip!

I made a gluten free pumpkin cake. It didn't rise as much as a regular cake. Is that normal?

I believe that it is normal that a cake won't raise as much if it is gluten free. I believe that the gluten is one of the major reason that baked foods raise.

Gluten doesn't have anything to do with baked goods raising!!!! Gluten is more of a bonding agent. it gives bakery products more strength. I work in a bakery and mix doughs all night. I go through over 300 pounds of gluten a day

I think I may have to get me some WHITE EGG LAYERS just so I can have eggs in the winter! (I'll need to dye them so DH won't know!)

Didn't you know that brown eggs are just dyed white ones?

At least MINE are
