and welcome to all the new people!

I need to post a picture of Henrietta. Poor girl is molting...and she's not happy about it. She is my girl that usually likes to be held, not now. She is grumpy and in pain and taking it out on everyone else. All this now that it is freezing. Poor girl. Everyone else is doing well - it was nice to see them! Working during every daylight hours gets old quick! I was also able to hear at least one of the boys crowing for the first time this morning. DH says they've been doing that for days. Oops!

at least we've got one chicken laying now. she only missed one day this week.

I too was drooling over those three pretty bantam pullets ... had to remind myself that 1) I already have more chickens than the rest of the family wants --- 2) they wouldn't mix well with my LF EEs ... likewise Roopert would overwhelm them --- and 3) I've essentially promised Dawn that I would adopt one of my silver EE grandpullets, and promised Dana to adopt at least one of the grandcockerels (they are GORGEOUS)

if only I could talk someone into caring for/ adopting / boarding ... the flock for a couple of months from February to late April

meanwhile, great to see everyone I already knew and meet face to face, the ones I hadn't seen before

great food too, wish I had thought to bring a takehome container, so could have loaded up a few leftovers to nibble on later tonight

Robin, those smoked oysters were exquisite; I pigged out on shrimp with cocktail sauce too

had to forcibly restrain myself from eating more baklava, or peanut fudge ... otherwise I might not have fit through the car door

great frittata (I would have liked to have eaten three times what I did, but left some for others), great salads, the huckleberry vinaigrette was delicious

best of all to sit and yak with friends (even if I couldn't understand half, due to "interference" from SQUAWLL ducks and guineas)

Oh yes, he was there. At first I couldn't get him to stand still long enough to meet anyone, and then when he finally settled down he sat in his camp chair across from where everyone else was sitting where he eventually fell asleep. He can't stay in one place and then finally crashes and has to nap. It's like taking a 64 year old toddler out with me.

A couple of folks did meet him briefly and he said he had a good time. He liked "the big white roosters and the tiny little chickens".
We both enjoyed our afternoon - I loved getting to see everyone and impressed with what good cooks we have in our group. What a bounty of food we had!

Yes, quite the spread! and a bunch of awesome people. Well, I guess I'll meet him another time. Glad he enjoyed it.

Hey, I got 26 eggs today! Seventeen from my layer pen, the rest from various breeders. They keep it up they will at least pay half my feed bill this winter.

Hmm, no one is here but us. I guess they are either on their way home or spending the night.

When you all get back on here I have a duck question. I know it has been asked before but can't recall. What is the best breed of duck for egg production? And is it the Muscovy that is the best one for meat?

I just got home about 15 minutes ago.

It was cool meeting everyone! (I'm not even sure I met every BYC person there). I took a few pics of people but might not get to posting them tonight.

Nice meeting you all today - I know I missed a bunch. I had a hard time hearing those I did meet - need to find a quieter place!

In the morning we are going to scour our woods and look for a HUGE nest. I'm now thinking the girls are hiding their eggs.

Hey all, Its been a while but I went to this crazy a$$ chicken show today and this guy was there and all he did was cry about how this idiot was treating him..... WELL, I GOT A PICTURE OF THE NICE WORK HE WAS SHOWING FOR SALE BUT THE GUY JUST WOULD NOT COME OUT FROM BEHING THE BOARDS. DO YOU KNOW HIM??????? LOL!
