We got a locking mail box after the county sheriff delivered a manilla envelope of our mail that was found in a ditch 15 miles outside of town!

I think I might know a guy that could make a pretty secure mail box. After all he spent 3 years building bomb disposal trailers rated for 20# of C-4 or 33 sticks of 60% tnt.

Yes I am one who can say my welds are bomb proof.

And why young lady are you not piloting the big twinkie.

I stayed home sick today. This Mama Duck is too sick to even shake my tailfeathers. I was busy piloting the big mattress down the road to dreamland today.

Broody, my DH and I made a point of stopping off there the last time we were in Chehalis. Please tell your FIL thanks for his labor of love. It's a nice museum, one more people should know about!

your getting ride of your Icelandics?????

Yup - I now have them, just got home. CL, that was a MUCH faster way to come back. (Stupid GPS took me 30 miles out of my way going down

)

They are now temporarily settled into "holding pens" until Saturday evening, then they go into the BIG coop with the the other girls.

Thank you sooo much Chickielady

Well, personal experience...do not trust the GPS bibilically. It took me WAY out of my way on my way to chehalis. Got me there...but by going 30 miles of back country winding roads.

My ducks start laying sometime in late Jan, early Feb....
I noticed them starting to pair up too.. Time to get them separated and put into their pairs/trios. Will need ear plugs. lol!

they only "turn up the volume" when wanting out of the pen to eat..... even the males quack....
they are housed with my 6 month old chickens.... its over crowded at night but until i know that coon/ predator has moved on or i hear about a new lump on the side of the highway i want to try and keep them safe at night......

this is the wrong time of year to try and home the duckie males.... maybe if in the spring someone who knows how to judge the standard of these ducks could help me in which 2 males to keep.

when held they don't really make noise.... they just start running "swimming" in mid air...... with how large and strong they are that is intimidating more than roosters now.... their claws are sharp.

so far 3 votes that #1 is the OE and #2 is the AM

I would tend to agree with the vote except for:
Both have Am combs, and OEs usually have a higher point in front on their combs and do either have any feathers on their shanks?
I cannot see any in the pic but sometimes it is the smallest few short feathers on the shanks that give the OE away.
If none, you have 2 Black Cockeral Ams.

We got a locking mailbox, and hubby cemented it into the ground after someone stole the previous mailbox. They were however, nice enough to leave the mail on our doorstep.

We went to the metal 'dump' in Elma a few weeks ago to drop off some metal DH had collected, and watched a few guys in a PU come in behind us with an entire PU load of mailboxes.
I had to laugh, they all had addresses still on them!
Somewhere they stole all those mailboxes & turned them in for scrap metal.
