It went better than I expected. We had fun remembering various outfits and hats mother wore. Lisa ended up wearing a pair of high heeled, metallic gold, ankle boots from the sixties all day.

Im so glad it was better than you thought it would be.

So Im gearing up to get seeds, where is the best place that you all like. I know what Ive gotten in the past and would just like to know what you all like.
Im going to take one of my make shift coops and make it into a little green house it gets a lot of sun. Now I just need to find good plastic (CL I saw you posted a place awhile ago that had good plastic) I didnt put a garden in last year just blueberrys, thought it was just too wet here. I can tell you I really missed it when it came time to picking. Plus I found out I really love to can, I have a weck water canner and let me tell you its worth the money I spent on it. ( I got it to help with the goats milk now its for the family) I need to get a pressure canner and a stove for the garage I can use it on. Have a glass top stove and a smaller pressure cooker that I dont want to crack the top of my stove.

We lost my grandmother in Feb, I know my mother is going through the same thing!! One really cool things tho, was, the mother's dress my mom wore to my wedding, was a dress HER mother wore in the 50's, my mom lost enough weight to wear it! I thought that was a lovely tribute, I also had a handkerchief that my grandmother had, wrapped around my bouquet. It's tough, but we must plow through the grief, remember the good times, and know they are safe and in a better place! My grandmother was Polish, and I remember a lot of good times at Easter, so, this last Easter, tho she had only been gone a short time, I pulled out some polish recipes and made them to honor her. Our love of cooking was something I will always remember!! Blessings to you and yours!!!
PS...gotta love the 60's!!!!

Babka and angelfood cake (to use up the egg whites left over from the babka which calls for yolks)

Hello out there. I am new to the chicken world and raising animals in general. I live in Ellensburg area and was gifted an old chicken tractor in June and 5 chickens in August (Barred Rocks and Buff Orp), then a beautiful Americaune rooster in September. I have wanted to have my own flock and had been thinking about the Buckeyes for a number of reasons when one of my dogs got herself into the chicken area and killed 4 of them. I was worried about the two chickens being in the coop by themselves all winter so I did something crazy and ordered Buckeye chicks the last week of October!! I ordered 12, but the guy sent me 25 I guess for heat or because he new that as a newbe I would be killing them off left and right. Anyway, I had 17 survive in the house until this week when they made it to the big wild world of our garden with thier new adoptive parents, Hoppla and Rico Suave.

Anyhow, Happy New Year to you all.

Seeds: Irish Eyes Seeds - Ellensburg
