Oh man. This is my Araucana flock's first night in the "real" coop with all the adults and "near-adults" - And it is POURING cats and dogs outside!!! I hope they make it fine through the night. . . . They're SO tiny for 5 week olds, I worry about those little'uns. Even their buddy Marans and Ameraucanas who are either a day or a week older than them are about twice their size.

but it was after the yak got involved things really got out hand.

I think that this story was caused by too many white eggs.

(This is why all drivers should be sober and alert before driving anywhere.)
P.S. Rob I am really happy that the swelling in your leg is better. I was worrying about you in my own odd way.

The new babies arrived today, and Miss Snowball is greatly relived that the mom mom has stopped stealing her eggs.

Well, . . . We've got just the places for an auction, but noone out here has chickens or would want them, and I highly doubt you people who live 2-6 hours away would want to come all the way down to Forks here for an auctionin which only the outsiders would have something for.

I guess I'd just have to stick with being the one to drive for hours to do something like that.

'Tis raining now. . . . I feel so non-productive, sitting here on the forums.

I could be planting, or cleaning the coop, or something. . . But it's raining and not very warm.

This rain is giving me a pain in my joints that has no end! It also makes me moody

I really need to go to Eastern WA sometime soon.

I would be more than willing to bring, and or take passengers along with me either way. I would be stopping in Ellensburg and Ephrata. Ehphrata would be the longest stop during the trip. I would still make it over and back in one day due to the fact that I am normally the only one home to take care of all the critters during the week. PM me if you need something moved East, or would just like something back on the Westside. I am very flexible about going. I have been avoiding going for almost a year now. I really need to go see my parents.

Ricky I think that you did great picking out chicks. You have a nice mix for the first time.

Nyrial How is the work going for you? Are you still going to South Carolina? It's sound like you have a hatchery going on.

I just hate meat birds. Good thing that they taste good. They are nasty and disgusting and very un-chicken like. We have been thinking about having a day or two, where anyone from BYC can join us for processing meat birds. You could bring your own bird or just watch and or help. Everyone is welcome, so if you would like to come, please PM me, and I will give you the address and day. We will be doing at least 2 different batches due to size. I think that the first batch will be done on the May 8th and the next batch will be either the 15th or 22nd of May.

I fairly sure that I have are more than 25 meat birds out in my brooder pen. I started with 36, but as I say they are stupid and smothered some of the smaller bird in one of the corners of the brooder. I am looking forward to the meat birds being getting to be in the freezer.

I don't mind the rain, but the cold just plain makes me hurt, even more than normal. (and that's saying something)
In Western Washington if you don't do it in the rain, you won't do it. It also keeps the webs between my toes, nice and comfortable. Uff da!

That talk kind of petered out. I think I would still go if they offered me a temporary (2 years), but I don't want to go permanently, nor did I ever. South Carolina benefits are different.. I'm sure they're as good, but would cost me more, and I worry that if I did that, I would lose my pension, since they supposedly run SC as a different company. Might just be hear-say, but better safe than sorry.

HippieChickie, if you are listening, if you still want the rabbits, please PM me this AM before 11 or I will not be home, and the buns may be gone~
Sorry, my modem is on the fristzlies, and I had to reset it this morning to get it to work, so I may be off the air for a while should it die for good~

Hello ReiMiraa, I live near Yakima. Is there an auction someplace near us?? How do you find out about auctions? I'm pretty new to there forums, and to chickens. Thanks.
