I keep all the emergency stuff there. Candles, flashlight(one the kids can't abscond) small propane burner, etc. I don't like to have to hunt that stuff down when the power goes out.

CR- So if you put the fridge on a drawer... do you have to be a giant to reach the back of the top shelf ???

Me too. I have the emergency stuff in the cupboards above the stove.

This old house has really high ceilings. All the top shelves are for stuff I don't use often. I need a step stool to reach them.

Nets of any sort are awesome scores!
use as:
run cover
garden trellis/ladder
hold down plastic on a greenhouse frame (over the plastic so it won't fly away)
and more!

Fishing nets, tennis, baseball, golf, soccer are all good!

I agree, but the Gig Harborites have certain standards of how their property should look. Old, used stinky fishing nets definately don't fit in anywhere. (kind of like the blue tarp thing, I even hate blue tarps. If I desperately need a tarp I buy a brown one.)

I guess I must be hoity toity. I don't buy blue tarps.

Now I am no designer and hate working with sticks (wood) but here is an idea ya may wanna think about. See the cupboard above the fridge? Now most people have that is it really very useful? Pretty high for most to reach. BUT think about use the same style but make it a drawer and put it UNDER the fridge. We did this in the neighbors house and it works well. Just an idea.

cool idea CR....I like that one. I always thought that the cupboard over the fridge was useless.

You must not be very tall.

Thank You, still steamed... I just found her little stash of eggs in the hay. the live trap is still set and there is nothing in it. I will take that out today, I did let the rest back out into the outdoor run, they have been sleeping on the floor of the coop, wary of things from above I guess. they are very watchful at the moment.
Today its war on the rats, I went in the coop last night and got ran over by one. time to bait every tunnel and hole I find. I want to get a rat zapper to. locked the cat in there once and he just sat and cried all night..the big baby.
Quincy needs some pics posted soon. would love to see how he progress's

I have been setting 3 rat traps daily, and in the last week or so, I have caught at least 1 mouse every day, sometimes 2.
Started the van yesterday and a mouse jumped out from under the hood & went hauling across the yard quickly followed by 10 or 15 Cuckoo Marans who were milling about around the van...tough luck mousie !!!!!!!
I noticed the gophers are heaping up fresh dirt all over the area..........all the critters are waking up from winter

It's a little early for that, isn't it? It's only January. I only finally got my suet feeder up. I put it in the front yard since I got chickens.

Well, maybe I am too then although I do use fishing nets. I just like things to look a certain way on my property. I'm not super picky about it but I try to keep things somewhat visually appealing. Blue tarps make my eyes cross.

So around noon yesterday, I was changing to go out, and I heard all this squawking. By the time I got pants and shoes on, there was nothing to see, but Fritz had blood on his breast. I bathed him, and he was raw between his wattles. Who or what would do that? I spritzed him with blue coat, and he's acting fine. I was looking at a thread yesterday that had a rooster with pretty much the same injury. I wonder if I could find it again.
