Ok than I going to try and see how to do it..
Oh the class Im taking is from River Valley Ranch, not to far away and they have class's every month. Im going to take a few and see what happens. I took one a few years ago that was 2 days and it was GREAT, the teacher came from Vermont to teach us. A lot of the Cheese markers in the area have taken class' from him.
I have a friend going with me to this class, but hay maybe we can do one together you just never know.

I got home from work to one little Blue Copper Maran Chick that hatched so now the wait is on.

I will once I know we are coming out that way. Would you be interested in meeting out at salt creek near Joyce if thats the closest I get? If not I do understand.

Salt Creek is fine. Anywhere from Forks to Sequim is fine.

Hi All,

I live in Parkland WA (of course it's still considered Tacoma, but I'm at the far south end of Tacoma). Nice to see that there are lots of people in Washington raising chickens. I'm allergic to chicken eggs so mine are more for pets and helping with the bug population in my back yard

. I guess some neighbor will get the benefits of the eggs. Though they are Bantam's it may take awhile for them to have enough for scrambled eggs lol. I may just keep a few to scramble for my African Grey. He just loves scrambled eggs!

I have two bantam Cochin's on buff colored and the other is black and white.

Have you tried duck eggs? I grew up allergic to chicken eggs and it is not as severe now that I'm older but I have tried some of the duck eggs from a co-worker and they didn't bother me! I have also heard the same outcome for others with allergies. Check some of the forum on BYC here for more info! I just got 5 new baby ducklings and am hoping for females so I can have my own supply! They now know my voice really well! They stay nice and quiet all night and in the morning they are silent till I go over and say "HI" then the cuteness begins!! '

My girls and I have the whole bath/brooder cleaning thing down to a science!! Thank God I have the extra hands! But I get the raw end of the deal! The girls get to watch them play in the bath while I dump and clean the brooder! HHHHmmmmm.........gonna have to reverse that!

I have begun their ducky crack! (peas that I split open & give them just the inside part) They only get treats fed to them by hand from 1 of us and now they expect it anytime we go over to them! Which is fine for me! I put them out on the livingroom floor (covered in towels!) and they had no problem following me around waiting for ducky crack! '

Zgoatlady- I would have switched to Sumner when we moved here but I already had so much senority at Kent and it was a $3 an hour pay difference so it is worth the drive.

I have brewers yeast powder!!! Found it at Natures Market in Kent!!! $11.99 for a pretty big can! So if anyone in the area wants some I am willing to share some of mine!

Thanks for the warm welcome all.

Zgoatlady, now that's love! Lucky me, I can touch chickens and handle the eggs. Hehehehe, I can wear them just not eat them

T Hi, My sister found a place in Olympia that sells duck eggs and brought me some. It took a week for me to get used to them as they were very rich. Not to mention tasty! We have since found that a coop in Olympia sells them and Marlines in Tacoma off of 38th street sells them as well. Its nice being able to have scrambled eggs again. Not to mention waffles. Just can't eat a waffle without an egg. Now I just have to figure out how to make mushoo pork or get the Chinese restaurant near me to use my duck eggs

I would keep ducks but I've got a very tiny back yard. Its about 15' wide and maybe 50' long. Most of it is patio so the 2 little bantams (hopefully they stay little

) will fit fine. Just can't have a coop as they have to be 50 ft from the neighbors house. I can do that for the house behind me and one side or the other but not both so I'm going to buy a large dog crate to bring them in each night and use as a coop.

I'm starting to think maybe I should sell my EE roo. I love him. He's awesome with the girls, very gentle, but avid lover. He always warns them over danger, shows them food, etc. The problem is, I can't seem to cure him of attacking my leg. I've done the thing where I carry him around everywhere. I've tried it all. I'm just afraid he might hurt one of the kids when he gets older if they go into the chicken pen. I have a really nice buff wyandotte roo that never once has swiped at me and he can be the roo for that coop. Gallo (my EE roo) is special to me since he was one of my very first chickens last year and he's beautiful black and white. You can see him on my BYC page... Do you think it'd be easy to sell/give to someone without them eating him?? I hate to give him to someone who'd eat him...
