Well it looks like the weather forecast crews were pretty accurate.

It will take some time to tell where end end up on total snowfall, but looking out the window, I would say LET THE FUN BEGIN

Getting to work today will be a journey.

Getting home, possibly much more challenging.

Everyone stay safe and sane.

Awoke at 4 AM to bang & crash & found new 10" of snow & blizzard white out...........
Pens nets were sagged, some broke & where half on the ground.
We had at least 8" and overnight 10" more.
The total is just under my knees and still coming down.
So far, no lose of power !

So, there is not much else to do right now.
We broomed off pens, hard to open gates !
Got as much done as we could & may go back to bed...........what else can you do ?
So now I hear we are going to get rain later today which will give us over 14" of slush, flooding & awfully heavy tree limbs.
Poop !
Hope you all are doing OK !!!

Willapa Bay is getting hit so hard that there is NO WAY anyone can get anywhere right now !
Good Luck getting to work, I'd stay home...it is awful out there (here anyways !)

Okay, way behind....might be able to get caught up tonight. But wanted to get on here....we are suppose to get a couple inches of snow and that is it...you'all getting the large amounts becareful. What we do have is the WIND. 8 degrees out and the wind is howling. not sure what the temp is with the wind factor...but BRRRRRRR comes to mind. Blew one of the doors off my "box" coop. Not sure how long it was off...but birds were huddled together in the back and cold. I had to wedge the "door" shut. So the got some warm oatmeal to try and warm them up some. They have a heat lamp to huddle under...this is where my lav orp babies are (they are 3 months old).

So if I am missing somethign PM me....otherwise, I will try and get caught up tonight. Winds with gusts up to 50 mph. Just found...winds 20 mph with 45-50 mph gusts. The temp is 8 out right now....what does that make the temp with the wind factored in.....COLD.

In under 5 minutes my hands were aching last night...I wore gloves this morning. Last night I went into the coop and warmed my hands in front of a heat lamp.

says I edited at 6:45....actually 5:45....obviously I have my time thing wrong. - HA fixed it.

One more edit: figured out wind chill: we are running around -10 with wind chill right now...worse with the 50 mph gusts. Banton down the hatches.

CR texted me....he lost power. Everyone be safe.

In 1985, we got 16 inches total. I remember because I was in HS and got stuck at a friends house. As a young driver, they didn't want me to chance driving home.
Two yrs ago we got a total of 18 inches in two rounds. So with the melt that happened in between it was more like 11 inches.
7-8 yrs ago we had 10-11 inches.
I believe in being prepared but sometimes I wonder if people(news) blow these things up a bit?

I think that we country folk are just used to stayin' put if need be and living in such a way that we don't have to leave home for a few days when necessary.
I just try to take it in stride.
Glad for the fact that no one in our house has medical conditions that make a power outage a pain.
And I'm really glad I'm not incubating right now!

Here in Kansas when a big storm is predicted it is interesting to see how fast the shelve at the store become empty. Why don't people just prep.

In North Idaho, in 1996 (I think it was) we got over 16 feet in the winter, and 10 sat on my cabin roof and packed to about 12" of solid ice with icicles as big around as your thigh...hard to bust off, and if they reach the ground they will lift your roof UP and pull it right off the walls.
Uncool and hard as granite!
I could not keep up with the driveway plowing, and the highway plows would bury my drive approach 24/7...overnight we could get up to 2-3 feet !
That was an anstrnomical snow year & January pre-Chinnok temps of -30 degrees.
Yeah, I stay prepared !!!!!!!!!!!
And I moved !!!
Sixteen feet, measured, and hard to find anyplace left to shovel it to !

It may have been an unpleasant situation but what great memories. Where abouts in Idaho?
