The wine sounds good, is it a sweet or midrange ?

She is doing a champagne yeast so it should turn a nice dry and not too sweet desert wine, pinky orange I am guessing.
It will not be effervescaent unless you do a second yeast at bottle.
It will be a very nice dry white/pink variety & I cannot waite to try it !!!!!!!
We are going to do a mess of Pinot Noir this next fall....hopefully we'll have a house and a storage place for the wine, LOVE my Pinot Grapes !!!!!

Im BACK!!! 48 hours and still no power. I just got the pc hooked up to generator. Gawd, I want my lights!
What a nightmare. I had several 100 eggs in the bator ready to hatch and the power went out Wed. I had to bring all eggs in from outside and all chicks. I lost several young seramas from outside because I didnt have heat. I have boxe all over the house. Got the generator going and then a few hours after it started it died. I was by myself with the kids and had to deal with it. I have had eggs in my pockets and shirt for 2 days now and most hatched. Today I went to get gas for the generator and left the hatching eggs by the fire and got home and my dog had a meal of hatching chicks. I wanted to kill him! CR has been awesome. He has put up with me texting at all hours. I can read all byc stuff but cant reply with the new system on my phone so I caould see what was going on. You are all great folks here and care and help each other. That is so so so cool. Im in the dark and its hard to see the keyboard so sorry if bad spelling. I talked to Jen this am and she is out of power too. We are now told it will be tues. or wed. I am going to check in later when needed. Hope all are well, safe and warm!

LOL, I was asking because I didn't know how long it takes to wine make wine, start to finish! A year? I guess I can google it.

Depends on the wine, or fruit used.
red wines use the whole grape, skin & all, it is what gives the red wine it's color.
It is aged with oak chips if not aged in oak barrels and the tannin in it is what protects it and helps it last, and you need to age it for at least a season, in my opinion, but to let it age properly for years mellows & developes a totally different taste.
White wines are crushed & skins removed....harder to produce in the home.
Whites are not aged in oak, and have no tannins and can so spoil easily by light & warmth.
Whites need to be drank within a year.
Fruit wines differ as to the fruit & if it is aged with oak chips or in oak barrels as said before.
dark fruits like plums can be pressed & fermented just as dark wine grapes, and aged the same way if one wanted to...or you could press out the juice & toss the skins and ferment it as white wine.
That is the fun of making wine, different yeasts also develope different flavors.
Much equipment is need, a brix tester & tube (to measure sugar) campa tabs, sulfite tabs, and so on...all properly measured & loved and bottled.
It is a wonderful hobby I highly recommend.
Nothing like going to a friend's for dinner & bringing several of your own wines with you for a fun wine tasting!
