yeah it was I, I also am cert in DA, and Anesthesia.......... Zgoatlady was a DA as well.
I suspect our Ogress has bruxism...and it will get very sore !
I can think of nothing else that would help her except maybe a few glasses of wine before bed ?
wink.png

I have seen alot of my patients crack teeth from bruxism....and tear out fillings & crowns and even bite their tongues very hard during the night.
I have also seen alot constantly spit out the guard in their sleep...but whatever, she needs to see a dental team for evail...before she ends up with cracked teeth or abcessing.

A few times in my early 20's I ripped apart the inside of my cheeks in my sleep, holes and hanging flesh, and blood in my mouth when I would wake. It all started about a year or so after I had been raped, when I finally got the guts enough to go to the police to report it. I don't think I have been grinding my teeth at night since then.

Yes, I have of course tried to scale my own teeth,,, Hee, hee, I have a friend who is a beautician, and she asked me that, and of course I asked her if she cut her own hair. She looked at me, appalled, and said, "Of course not!"
CL, name the time and the place and I'll be glad to scale away! Oh, errrrrm, as long as it's in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and it's on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or possibly Thursday before 1 pm. That work for you?

Ogress, I just thought of something else we tell patients. If you're having jaw pain, baby the jaw! No especially tough foods to chew, no big fat sandwiches that you have to open real wide to eat, cut everything into small pieces before you put it into your mouth, avoid things like apples that you have to open up wide to bite (or cut into small pieces before you eat the apple).
And gum! If you chew gum, stop! Ordinarily gum chewing is fine (sugarless, of course, even better if sweetened with xylitol, but that's another rant), but if you have any kind of jaw issues it's just too much wear and tear on an already-stressed joint. I have seen occasional instances where the only "treatment" needed for jaw pain was cutting out gum chewing... Just a thought.

Oh, I could not eat anything crunchy because I could not bite down to chew them! It was broccoli boiled to grey mush, scrambled eggs and Carnation instant Breakfast drinks! It still hurts to eat, but at least I can bite again. I have not tried anything tougher than a danish yet.

Thanks for all the advice! I think I should be able to get in to the dentist on Tuesday.

Oh so went on my e-mail (50 e-mails !!!!!!!!) and see there is a notification from BYC that I have a PM from Hallerlake, which I just tried to access and no can do.............but I can read some of it via e-mail & it says you are about a mile away from RW ?
....so, why didn't ya just show up ?
And please e-mail me in the future as I cannot get in & out of the message page with this slow cable...........puter locks up, page goes dead "Internet Explorere cannot show the page" yada yada yada.....
I know you have probably already done this BUT. Do you have the most recent version of what ever browser you use. See I use IE and I thought I had the most recent. Turns out I had what they called a pre- release version ! WTHeck ? ? ? I up-dated to the regular IE 9 and It did help some. Now when I can get above a 0.84 upload speed I should be in good shape.
BTW is anybody else noticing the format different tonight?

Hopefully tax season will be over soon and you can enjoy your chickens and life again! I also hope all this work means more $.

Thanks! Since this is my first year, pay is low, but I will have lots of overtime. Next year is commissions, and it should be great. Surprisingly, a lot of the people that I did taxes for that I had never met before have been passing my business cards to their friends and co-workers and they come in asking for me! I was shocked because contrary to company policy, I do tell my clients it is my first year if they come in with depreciation, schedule C's and other more complex things I should not be doing yet. I have offered all of them an appointment with someone more experienced, and all but one still wanted me to do the return. I do have the office manager or someone very experienced go through the return page by page in the clients presence. So far, everyone went out happy, even if they were not happy when they came in. They say "Hey you've got to learn, and I've heard you're careful." We did cover all those topics in class, but we only spent a couple sessions on some of them, so I took quite a few more online courses to learn them in more detail.

I'm CAUGHT UP!!!! Wow, I did not think it was possible!!!!

Welcome to all the new folks!

I miss chatting with all my BYC buddies; they are some of the best people you will ever get to know.

Chickie - love the elk, but I'm happy I don't have that many eating up my garden. Only a couple of times in my years here have we have ad herds of 70+ come through the property, usually they are in groups of 4-10. Only ripe apples are enough to entice them to jump the 6' chainlink, and with all the bear activity we have had in the past 4 years, they have not had the opportunity. Bears eat apples long before they ripen.

My hens are laying well again. Luckily the local wildlife has not discovered that yet.

Goodnight all - I think I'm alone here anyways. I'll be back Sat. evening, probably when you're all gone to bed again.

Hi Chantal,
I called Animal Control first, then they referred me to Zoning.

What breeds are you interested in? Just wondering, I'm a newbie too.

I am here in Aberdeen, WA... we are just starting our research about raising some chickens and ducks... sure could use some help with ordinances and placement of coops etc for this area. We are not within city limits, therefore, very hard to get details on what is okay etc... anyone local that can be of help? Any breeders locally? Would appreciate any help... thank you! Chantal

No problem, I was just generalizing. It's the whole system. I mean, 5 dollars for a bandaid? Really? If a mouth guard is the 'higher cost solution' and an individual can buy the material for a few dollars just makes you wonder what the profit margin is for even the 'honest' dentists.

And what really is annoying is Veterinarians costs are getting up there really close to what Doctors charge and vets malpractice costs are way lower. If people need insurance to afford these doctors then pretty soon no one will be able to afford vet care with out insurance. I don't even have insurance for my self, how am I suppose to pay it on my animals?

My dog needed an MRI to confirm he had a herniated disc and may need surgery. Other possibilities for the pain was a menengitis but slim since he had no fever among other symptoms. I put it off hoping he would heal but had a relapse and was in so much pain I couldn't take it anymore. I searched around trying to find the least expensive MRI vet. One wanted chest xrays if the dog was over a certain age which I didn't need but their MRI was more expensive. Another said they wanted chest xrays on every dog prior to an MRI. I went with them as I told them I didn't want the chest xrays. My dog was only 3. Thought I did good saving my self some money but low and behold, even though she confirmed 2 herniated discs she went and did a spinal tap to rule out menengitis while she had him back there! Which was unneccesary since she already found the herniated dics. And duh, it came back negative! Oh big surprise! She was just trying to get her money out of me since I opted out of the xrays. An extra $400 for a spinal tap! Talk about sucking people dry. Ticked me off too because she shaved his head and neck bald for the spinal and it took a year to grow back! $400 and a baldy all for nothing.

Maybe a few honest ones but only a FEW.
Weeeellll... there are greedy, unethical people in every profession, and I cannot deny that.there are dentists who fit the description. We see new patients from time to time who are comimg in for a second opinion who have been told they need thousands of dollars of dental work, and my dentist will agree with none or a small percentage of the recommendations. Of course these people were suspicious of the first dentist to begin with, or they wouldn't be asking for a second opinion.
But if you reread my posts (which are lengthy, don't blame you if you don't want to slog through them), you will see that I had several no-cost and low-cost and no-profit-to-the-dentist suggestions. And basically I am quoting my own boss to the letter on these. This is what she tells our patients. Ultimately, many of them end up in the higher cost solution (custom made bite guard) because the other fixes didn't work. But if the less expensive things work, we are all happy.
If a dentist, or any medical professional, is pressuring you into the highest-cost option without giving you alternatives, maybe you are not seeing the right practicioner. There are honest dentists out there. I am lucky to know this first-hand.

Don't feel bad! I'm 20 minutes from Danas wine store. I probably won't be going to Monroe show and if I had thought about it (or had an invite) I could have met Chickie there with about 60 feed sacks or even just stood on the side of the freeway waving them as she drove by. They are all over the place here and driving me crazy! so they will most likely end up in recycling at the feed store. Besides, I haven't been folding them on the crease so she might not want them anyway! LOL

So Chickie, let me know if you come back up this way in the next week otherwise I've got to get rid of them. Would you mind if they are not creased? I started to do that but I'm usually in a hurry and it took too long so gave up. Or maybe I can drop them off with someone (SOON) who is going to Monroe and they can give them to you if you want them.
So, how come I wasn't invited, I'm even on the way

SOB!

WOW Is BYC having some issues today or is it just mee ? ? ? See I can't get the drop down on the forums tab to work and The postings are only about 2/3 width of page the rest is just blank.

Did I see you upgraded to IE 9? I'm using the same and have never gotten the drop down on the brown forum tab to work.
But it is in about 4 other places, look for the blue new posts link top and bottom right & left, depending on the page. Same drop down there.
You probably have the ads turned off, that's why 1/3 of your screen is blank. Try going into your profile, edit acct details (I think) and playing with "constrain forum width" and "make forum full width" (something like that).

Imp- unless you want the ads. lol

ETA- Pics of drop down
