Totalcolour, Kaneke and Hallerlake, would love to have met all of you too, but I made it sound more exotic than it was. I dropped off egg cartons and some gluten free oat flour for Chickie, gave both her and Rainwolf some seed starting peat pellets that I had since they were swapping seeds, and came away with one of CL's feed sack totes that I've been eyeing, some eggs she was saving for my wreath project and some bay leaves that RW had growing in her garden.

It would be great to have a big social meet up somewhen though.

The other Robin

I am here in Aberdeen, WA... we are just starting our research about raising some chickens and ducks... sure could use some help with ordinances and placement of coops etc for this area. We are not within city limits, therefore, very hard to get details on what is okay etc... anyone local that can be of help? Any breeders locally? Would appreciate any help... thank you! Chantal

sorry to sound whiney -- it's just that at the moment I can't drive, and DH has his own stuff to get ready for being gone several months to Maui ... wanted to get that sewing machine to CL before we left, also the Purina bag which DS might throw out not knowing it's being saved for a purpose

:hit

oh well, as of early Monday morning, you probably won't hear from me for awhile, I am not sure just when the cable guy will be coming to hook up our internet there ... usually it's a couple of days and I go berserk from internet deprivation (especially BYC, particularly since there are several on Maui I want to coordinate with) :caf :he :barnie

Aloha and have a safe trip to Maui!

well, I did have to toddle out into the sun for a few minutes today -- DH had the flock out free ranging, supervised by himself and by Roxy the dog

who seems to be very respectful towards the chickens especially ROOPERT, who is a good flock protector even if a nuisance for humans

but when he attempted to lure them back into the coop, with a hanging feeder of black oil sunflower seeds, Becky did NOT want to go in :cd

he finally came and got me, and I nudged her gently with the long PVC pole, until I got her near the door, then fended off the escape artists and urged her on in :clap I've tried to accustom them to heading for the coop when I bang, sharply, on (or with) something, three times in a row, while commanding: IN THE COOP !

once she recognized her flockmates chowing down on the BOS, oh my, she was through that door in a flash

I hobbled back upstairs, luckily made it before my back cramped solid and immobilized me

oh my, a little over two days to go and I'm hoping to be fit enough to walk through the airport to the plane, without some disaster striking

Thanks to chickens4gramma for the washing machine to T-Hi !!!!!

Thank you to all of you who have posted wonderful, detailed responses to my TMJ issue!

Good news, a loud noise startled me last night (or maybe the night before - crazy hours, 60 so far this week have me lost for tracking time) and I whipped my head around fast and hard to see what it was (the ferocious North Bend Winds slamming a door open!) I banged my chin hard into my shoulder, felt my jaw slide and pop, and next thing I know, I can close my mouth again, and the big lump is gone!

It still hurts, but I can feet that subside. I am walking over to my dentist next time I get a break (I hope that is soon). He is conveniently in the same parking lot as my tax office.
