ok everybody, pray for good weather for our trip

usually I pack things just in case we get diverted or stuck someplace enroute; this time I don't really have room for that on top of what else I need to take along

still trying to get all the Christmas boxes packed up and put away --- getting sick for a month (or has it been longer?) did NOT help

pullets --- actually in less than a month they'll officially be HENS --- are really happy with their new fresh coop and fresh shreds in the nest box, and they gave us four eggs today, with no "gunk" on them ... pretty standard for the six of them ... when they're in full production we get four or five daily, yesterday there were five .. Ginger rarely misses a day, the rest usually take a day or two off every week

so I'm assuming they like the warmer weather, and they're all done molting

don't know when the cable installer will hook up our internet, but I can always walk up the STEEP hill to the Starbucks, and use their wifi .. I'm taking the rolling computer case this time so I don't have to carry the laptop in my arms

DS says he'll take good care of my girls ...

He should look Italian! Full blooded - his mother was a Cannata, his dad was my Uncle Louie Aquino and both sets of his grandparents were immigrants from Italy. Rich is not only skilled in wine making, but makes his own cheese, sausage, pepperoni, and more. And it's all delicous! I love when he brings me little presents of stuff he's made so I can have little slices of goodness for lunch.

ooh I am looking for some good sausage recipes...Pepperoni....for one. Cannot have MSG in the recipe though...
My Momma is from Italia, Daddy is Scotch.
Of 4 kids I am the only 1 with blond/green, the rest are brown/brown and take after the Italian side.
When my Mother pushed me around in the stroller people stopped & asked who's child she was babysitting !
and here you see top left to right : My Mother, DH's Mother
Next row, my baby sister , and DH's older sister, then DH, and then me.
I am the last one on the right with a bucket on my head.
Yes CR...that is Einstein in a wee suit !!!!
Easter Sunday, in San Bruno, CA.
Probably 1959.

Well I think that I am fairly caught up with the thread. I have been busy with yard work. DH and I managed to cut down a very large tree for our neighbor. By time we got the tree down, we had 5 neighbors out 9 helping us. Today I managed to get the rest of the leaves mulched up and in the compost bin. I cut the weeping birch down to just the trunk. It may survive, but who knows. It fell over in the ice storm. There was no way to tip the tree back up with the weight of the branches. So who knows what will become of my tree.

I am wiped out with all the work around here. The puppies are now toddling around the house. They started to walk about 4 days ago. We are now in full Yorkie shuffling mode. There are 4 boys and one very tiny little girl. We are going to keep her. I named her Bubbles. One of the boys is much larger than his sister, so he got named Tank. I am waiting to name the other boys, until I can tell them apart. They all look like mini Rottweilers. They are now a month old today.

OH so cute !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can almost hear the wee snarling !
Careful where you step !!!!!

I also had 8 chicks hatch last week. I thought that they should have hatched the week before, and that the power outage had done them in. So I ignored the bator, and just didn't want to deal with. I left plugged in, but I had taken the bator off the turner. Well much to my surprise last Friday evening I heard some baby chick peeps coming from the living room. By Saturday all the chicks hatched. I did end up losing one. I am not sure what was wrong with it, but it wasn't right, and started to stumble around. So my DH took care of it for me. But the rest of them are doing great.

My Porcelain Silkie hen has still not been able to join the rest of the flock. I don't think that she understands about being in coop and run with other chickens. She is doing a great job of raising the chicks that hatch in mid December. We have them in the brooder in the garage. So I have chickens in the house and the garage, and the back yard. lol

The chicks are very suspicious of me. I took them outside today for the first time.

Aren't they just as cute as they can be!
