Well, although it's been getting VERY cold at night the days have been in the middle to upper 40's!! This morning the old horse decided to come running up from the bottom pasture and buck up and kick up his heels!! and the goats have been doing that for two days now!! I love to see them running and kicking!! It means everyone is feeling well and spring is just round the corner!!

Oh I also wanted to say, that I'm coming up that way on Thursday, hopefully early in the am, Terry want so go over White pass. He said theres acouple things he wants to check out. If anyone needs anything, I will be glad to transport if it fits in my car. Gonna stop by if I can and say Hi to CR so just let me know.

I have no idea whether or not the man killed his wife. I'm sorry he felt he had no option except to kill himself, but killing his children was wrong.  No ifs ands or buts about it. It's pretty narcissistic to think his children couldn't live without him.

It might have been unbearable. It might not have been. They'll never know because they weren't given the chance. No one has the right to make that choice for another person.

Let's hope I pruned this right.

Anyway, there was an ongoing conversation in my life that had to do with an uncle, a cousin, and a tenant, all of whom had serious mental health diagnoses including some flavor of depression and how much those of us who were in contact with them had to put up with before we could justify avoiding them, confronting them, or even calling the cops (all but one had antisocial personality disorder as part of their official diagnosis). The official wording is "a danger to themselves or others" but often, when you get to that point, it's frankly too dangerous to do anything but run. The measure we came up with was that if they were unable to fake being normal, polite human beings, we were justified in avoiding them and telling them why; if they were interfering in the ability of their family and neighbors to live normal lives, it was time to confront them, and the first time they mentioned harming themselves or someone else it was time to call the cops.

Most mentally ill people, by far, do not act out violently. Almost all people with severe depression are not the kind of people to forget that their spouses and children are separate human beings with their own lives and thoughts. The ones who are not do not get to hurt people. It may be a reason, it is not an excuse. In a perfect world they get detected and treated before they slaughter their five-year-old with a hatchet and set their world on fire.

I remembered the bird I thought this was: A Tananger ??? (Not the one shown above but the one I found dead.
And it was attacked by something which hit it in the back of the neck, we believe an owl or hawk)

There's Western Tanagers, which are colored like upside-down Tequila Sunrises: red heads fading to yellow bodies (their wings are black with white bars, tails black). They're migratory, and even at the coast you don't see them before early April. I don't see them near the house any more because they're birds of Doug Fir forests but I've got a pair or two up on the hill.

I did not write this but feel it worth sharing AGAIN ! ! !
Please read it more than once!
I can so relate to so much of it.

Before you judge my life, my past or my character... Walk in my shoes, walk the path I have traveled, live my sorrow, my abuse, my doubts, my fear , my pain and my laughter! Remember, "Judge not lest ye be judged." Everyone has their own story! When you've lived my life, then you can judge me!

Sorry CR, but everyone has their own opinion regarding judgement. One of the things we do, is have juries at trials - they are there to JUDGE, and they don't need to to walk in someone else's shoes, nor live their sorrows etc.

There is right, and their is wrong. And sometimes a grey area, but in the end, each man and woman must do the right thing. No "ifs", "ands" or "buts" about it, and no "well I had a lousy childhood", or "my dad beat me". We need to take responsibility for our own actions, and stop putting the blame somewhere else.

And since this is a democracy, you have every right to think differently than I do!

last week I found this on my bottle of mouthwash as I was reaching for it... glad I looked first...

Ugh - that's a wake up call for sure. Bet you didn't need coffee after that!

Ok still more hatching but here ya go

and the first Serama to hatch...

I've got chick envy!!! They're adorable!

Also on the log off/on thingy, it may only be a temporary fix. I did it yesterday, got a bunch of notifications, but none after midnight. Logged off/on again this morning when I realized and now i'm getting nortifications again. I know they're working on it...

Quote: True BUT they are judging based on information provided which is (supposed to be) the facts. Then they are forming an opinion based on what they have seen.

Not quite so fast and easy.
and to demonstrate that lets use incubating /hatching.
one person may do a dry method and have good luck the next may do 75% humidity and have the same hatch rate as the first person. So WHO IS RIGHT AND WHO IS WRONG ? ? ? ? Neither one because they are both using the method that works for them. IT IS NOT SO CUT AND DRY !

Based on a recent post by you I think I understand your taking exception to my post. No I will not reveal that post. It is not necessary to go there. See contrary to what some believe. I try not to hurt feelings or make personal attacks.

So, allmost all my pens nets are OFF, and in the back pen for started birds, the buck babies would NOT GO OUT !
So I noticed & went to look & saw feathers & this bird...uneaten.........
What is this bird ?

Oriel ?  A sapsucker...... this was a nectar feeding bird~~~~~

looks like a varied thrush to me .. they resemble robins but come through on their migration usually a little earlier than the robins arrive

and thanks to all of you who prayed or sent best wishes, we had a great airline flight , the best weather I've ever seen enroute, and we landed on runway 20 (southbound) which is really unusual

little bit turbulent and wing-dippy and bouncy on short final and the landing, but these pilots flying for Hawaiian Airlines, KNOW how to handle it

we have internet, I say, We Have Internet, WE HAVE BYC !!!!!! :ya :jumpy

took the gal from Oceanic Time-Warner almost two hours to trace down the glitches in the lines and the wiring and the boxes, but now have great service

before I die of BYC and internet deprivation ....

have read everything now, all caught up ... hurray for the peeps reporting successes, condolences to those reporting disasters

here on Maui we had some rain intermittently yesterday (needed it, looks like another drought year), pineapple express has been sending all the water Maui needs, over to the Pacific NW

and rained early this morning (we were up at 4 AM local time, still on WA diurnals), and for a little bit midmorning, freshened everything

Mary says three of my chicks from last year, survived and are laying regularly, but to her dismay they aren't real friendly; she wanted chickens to come running up the driveway to greet her when she arrives home after work or studies

I haven't been down to check on them yet; things to do up here at main house, plus a LOT of mosquitoes down at Mary's, and I react strongly to the bites, they just LOVE to bite me

speaking of bites and stings ... honeybees aren't that bad, I'd rather not get stung by a yellow jacket (and we have a cavity roof full of them) but they don't usually seek people out to zap; but the worst are the "ground bees", small black ... probably truly wasps ... which live in underground tunnels like ants do, and those things are aggressive AND very powerful stingers; late hubby got stung six times, wound up in hospital, almost died ..... I got stung by just ONE and was sick for five days
